Spiderprincess headcanons 

Romantic tropes surrounding the ship: Friends to lovers, mutual pining, sassy heroine, strong hero/heroine, secret relationship, forbidden love, belated love epiphany, slow burn.

What the first gif tells: At the beginning of their relationship, Shuri is the most confident one. Her favorite pastime is to tease Peter mercilessly for his crush on her and act like she’s his mentor. Her “I’m gonna teach you, bug boy” attitude makes him both fond and irritated.They have a friendship/flirtationship going based on mutual love of science and understanding of the massive responsabilities they both have despite being young people. 

What the second gif tells: The relationship takes an angstier take when Peter is the one to grow more confident. He totally assumes his romantic feelings for Shuri without pressuring her to make up her mind. She’s scared as hell because he’s the least appropriate suitor she could have ever imagined. A poor, white, american boy from Queens. Her family might allow her to date him casually but this relationship would cause a scandal in the public eye.

Time and place of first meeting: Obviously in an alternate timeline post BP for me. The Wakandan outreach center is based in Oakland but Shuri tours a few other cities including New-York to promote their remote programs. Peter comes in her mobile laboratory to report for the the Daily Bugle. Shuri takes notice he’s the only reporter who looks genuinely stoked to be there and actually asks relevant questions, so she allows him a longer interview. They hit it off well and she tells him she’d love to discover the city with a native if he’s up to be her guide. They go take ice creams after the interview.

Time and place of (official) first date: Just one month after their first meeting, they go at Disneyland. Peter is late cause he just helped a family escape a fire. He figures since it’s Disneyland, he can just keep the Spidey costume on even if it’s got coal on it. Shuri is not impressed but she thinks she might just keep him because his dumbass is cute.

Feelings realization: Peter’s massive crush starts on day one and it gets stronger as time passes. The culmination is when Shuri invites him to a fancy gala she must attend and he sees her in a party dress for the first time. Yo bet your ass he freezes. It takes Shuri a little longer to notice her own feelings. It’s the fear of losing him after he comes back all battered and bruised from battle that she has an epiphany, as she helps him to patch up with wakandan medicine.

First kiss: It 100% happens on a rooftop cause how romantic would that be y’all ? Two young lovers surrounded by the NY skyline and city lights at night (just like in TASM). Anything else is unthinkable. Peter confesses first. Shuri initiates the kiss. Peter deepens it.

First time: In Peter’s humble bedroom in Queens (he still lives there cause he doesn’t wanna leave Aunt May alone). They’ve got the house for themselves on that night. He tries to make the place fancier than it is because his girlfriend is a princess and all. Buys flowers and candles and almost sets fire to his room.
