Unpopular opinion: you absolutely can judge how someone handles a horse through video or what happens at shows.

I agree, to a certain extent. Like, if you’re just judging on the riding, they could be having a bad ride but if they’re smacking their horse around and willing to post a video of it or do it in public at a show, then you can generally expect that they do the same or worse at home.
