Does anyone know what these fuckers were called
And why were they so fun even though I risked breaking my collarbone every time I tried this

"Close-Up On A Spinning Thing"
I have no idea what the "spinning thing" actually was or does, but it was fascinating. 😂 (no edit-just cropped. 8.24.19)
HELP PLZ
I'm making a (kind of modern version) praxinoscope for a school project - something like that picture down there, that spins and the mirrors make the pictures look like an animation, and I need some kind of spinning base. Any ideas what I can use? The internet keeps saying to use a record player, but like those are expensive... I'd prefer it to spin on its own, because a constant speed makes everything better, but as a last resort I guess I could use a lazy suzan or something like that.
Also, the art store kind of sucks and I couldn't find mirror mylar that actually works as a mirror, still looking for that, but I may have to use actual glass mirrors, so this thing has to be able to support a decent amount of weight and a decently wide circle.
Help?
