To me, Dazai is a small child desperately screaming I love you to anyone who might hear and hoping they hear him. But because of the way he views the world, he thinks no one heard it.

Fear that you can’t reverse

that hit me so hard. No matter what they do, they’ll always fear lightning or that humanity is lost because they can never go back. Also reminds me of my fears too.

With monsters much bigger than I can control now

This can be two things. It could be Chuuya against N, knowing that the pain and suffering at his hands is something he can never overcome now. But it could also be Verlaine. He has to deal with the fact that there’s another person like him in the world. It can be that he lost the Flags to him because he was too weak. It could be him using corruption for the first time.

I’m ready for the worst

The last line was just, wow. No matter how you look at this, it helped Chuuya. It unlocked “his full potential.” It taught him about Arahabaki. It brought him to Verlaine. It taught him that sometimes he’s too weak. It taught him that sometimes no can do anything to change an outcome.
