Delicious Party Precure Episode 27 Review - Professor Ran's Theory For Happiness

Maybe it’s just me, but it always feels like some episodes really like sharing or shifting a focus character onto another. The previous episode was about Kome-Kome not liking green peppers, but it somehow spiraled into getting Kokone to like them as well. This episode has it to where it’s about Ran wanting to be more creative and inventive with food, but the focus shifts on Kome-Kome who’s feeling insecure about her appearance. Starting Episode 25 to now, it does feel like it’s some sort of Kome-Kome mini-arc or something. I don’t think she’s becoming a Precure because if she does become one, how will Yui transform?

It’s nice that Ran’s passion for food has her becoming more inventive. Ran may be academically stupid, but when it comes to food, she’s intelligent. Candy bubbles seem like a creative invention. I also like how her excitable, passionate personality is because she’s a good older sister to her two younger siblings. She’s friendly and capable, hence why her sister and brother love her so much. I do think that she does give off major older sister vibes despite being the cutesy character of the group. The way she was trying to find solutions to Kome-Kome’s insecurities was actually the best I’ve seen of Ran because she was always perceived as weird to others. I think she was the perfect character to help out. I also like that Ran’s secret about being passionate for food is actually seen positively at school now. This is such a good development episode for her.

Ran’s siblings Rin and Run so play a factor for the Kome-Kome portion of the episode. Seeing Rin caused Kome-Kome to become a bit insecure about her appearance as she learns that normal girls don’t have fox ears or tails. I do wonder why she started becoming insecure when it didn’t bother her before. Too bad that her wanting to be friends with Rin isn’t explored too much as she spends most of her time with her insecurities. Though, it’s probably a sign of her growing up. I do wonder why she grew up so quickly too. There was talk about the first Kome-Kome and Pam-Pam felt nostalgic about them. Too bad it’s not brought up again; just who is the first Kome-Kome?

The ending was surprising. Narcistoru just yanks the Special Delicious Stone and Spiritoru is no longer relevant after three episodes. What was even the point of having him then? Anyways, I was surprised that this episode ended on a cliffhanger. Something big is going to happen, I can feel it… What are your thoughts on this episode?

Spiritoru from Delicious Party Pretty Cure!

I've been working on this for two weeks, that's how I imagined Spiritoru activating XD Posting it after today's ep hits different :')

This latest episode gave me food for though (heh) about Narcistoru and Spiritoru

Ok, this is interesting! We always knew Narcistoru HATES the concept of happiness found in food and eating, so it only makes sense he gave his own thoughts to Spiritoru.

But, from the way both Spiritoru and Secretaru word such concepts, it seems there are no good nor fun memories. At first I though Spiritoru considered food as useless because he’s a robot, but if such a mindset is fueled by his creator, then things are more complicated than they may appear.

To point this further, Spiritoru gets utterly confused when Yui and Ran mention how food brings cheer. He doesn’t dismiss it at all, he registered the girls’ words and compared them to what he knows. And it just doesn’t add up, which gives him great discomfort.

Then, after the battle, Spiritoru says this.

He looks and sounds so in pain as he desperately tries to find meaning behind the girls’ words. Not only does he not find any data about it, he even goes to say that meals are torture. It’s not that he doesn’t have any info about sharing food: there seem to be memories about it, but they’re painful to remember.

And now that Spiritoru stumbled upon this contradiction and is asked the reason of his pain, Narcistoru appears and deactivates him.

There’s definitely a reason behind Narcistoru’s hatred for food, and at this point it doesn’t seem to be as petty as we previously believed.

Having said that, I wonder if Narcistoru will reveal more about him. Also, I REALLY hope Spiritoru is ok: after this episode I’m really worried for him.

Delicious Party Precure Episode 28 Review - Narcistoru's Final Stand

I do like that the final battle with the Bundoru Gang generals are pretty interesting in the sense that they break away from the usual formula. For example, Gentlu made two Ubauzos at different instances. For Narcistoru, he made an even more powerful version of Motto Ubauzo in the form of Gossori Ubauzo. He even let go of the Recipeppi in order to toy with the Precures—to let them feel despair—before he goes back to his nefarious schemes. This time, the Precures are overwhelmed by the upgraded Ubauzo.

I know that Kome-Kome being special has been established since she’s the only one of the Energy Fairies who can turn into a human, but it does feel a little forced after a while. We’re never explained why she’s so special—probably because she’s pink and that’s always the lead Cure’s color. Her growth is also never explained too. Since last episode, there has been mention of a Kome-Kome I, but if Pam-Pam remembers the first one so fondly, why isn’t she explaining anything? Heck, why isn’t she the one explaining how Kome-Kome’s powers work? I’m guessing she has the ability to make the group attack because why not?

RIP to Spiritoru, but Narcistoru has been the most menacing here. It makes sense as this was his last chance. In fact, he’s joining the battle this time around too! It was so cool seeing the Precures do hand-to-hand action with Narcistoru. Black Pepper and Rosemary even join in on the combat—too bad most of their contribution was off-screened. His backstory being a mix of being a picky eater and not having a sense of joy for eating is pretty interesting. I’ve met a lot of picky people and there are people out there who don’t really eat for enjoyment but out of necessity. I feel like since he can’t feel the joy of eating, he chose to lash out against others because of it and became a narcissist because of it, I think? Though, I do wonder where he’s from. Is he from Earth or CooKingdom? 

The group attack was really nice. It was cool to see them get an outfit upgrade and their wands also look like swords in a way. It was just a super nice sequence and I love the inclusion of preteen Kome-Kome in the finishing shot too.

Now that Narcistoru’s time is done, it’s time for Secretoru to become the next recurring villain. Hey, at least she fixed Spiritoru towards the end, but will he be used? Who knows. I wonder what’s going to happen to Narcistoru now… What are your thoughts on this episode?

The end of episode 27 made me think Cure Precious would do this XD Let her befriend Spiritoru when he comes back to the field please, she was reaching out to him
