While Yata generally has no problem to wish Saruhiko a Happy Birthday now that they’re finally talking to each other again in more friendly ways, he still feels kind of awkward. Even more so since Eiri has dragged him to shop for a present. He says that now, though it’s been his idea initially. But now he wonders if that isn’t going a bit too far already, since they’re still miles away from being as close as they used to be.
But yet, Yata wants to take that step, wants to show he cares, and that he wants this to work out.
After having sent a text to Saruhiko, requesting him to come outside (which he hopes the other would read and also react to), he waits at the front gates of Scepter 4. He hasn’t felt like barging in like he usually did, not wanting to disturb any birthday party that might be going on inside. Somewhere in there. This building is huge after all.
But to Yata’s big surprise, not even five minutes after having hit ‘sent’ on his wristwatch, Saruhiko already appears at the gate.
“Hey, I hope I didn’t disturb anything?” A brief tilt of his head, but knowing the other, he must be rather glad to have an opportunity to leave the party, hence the quick arrival. Or is there none..? Saruhiko’s still wearing his work uniform.
“Just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday.” A small but genuine smile accompanies the congratulation, before he holds out a bag. In it, a few snacks they’ve used to share back then, two cans of coke, and two kinda messily wrapped gifts. In one, a keychain with a little shiny knive looking very similar to the ones Saruhiko always uses, and in the other - and this one’s mostly thanks to Eiri - a plush of a caramel-colored, cheerful looking cat, the fabric unbelievably soft.
“Dunno if you wanna hang out too -- or later when you’ve got time..” He’s leaving that option up to decide for Saruhiko.
