Michi! I just wanna say thank you for all the good times this past year. It’s been such a ride on this Sarumi boat, but I’ve been enjoying every moment of it and writing with you. You are so hard on yourself, but you write so well. I always look forward to seeing you on the dash. You’re an absolutely amazing writing partner and friend. And editor! You have helped me grow so much as a writer and AMV editor this past year, and I am so thankful for that. Wishing you a good holiday & New Year!

Sage, how dare you coming into my inbox being sweet like that?? I’m soft. And yes, I’m probably my own biggest critic. Never 100% satisfied with what I make, but maybe that helps me improve. But I hope you know you’re an amazing writer and friend too! You’re definitely one of the people I look up to when it comes to writing. And when it comes to editing, I’m sure I wouldn’t have done anything at all this year if it wasn’t for you. It’s almost sad how easy Yata makes this. “ A witch. ” He answers firmly, but his voice remains passive and serious. Admittedly, he wants to see how long it’ll take Yata to realize this is another prank. A hand rises and adjusts his glasses as he begins to tell the story of this witch who may or (more likely) may not exist.

“ There have been reports of a witch who haunts the city from October 31st to December 31st. Supposedly, she’s a Strain. ”

The witch being a possible Strain makes this story a lot more believable to Yata, since tracking and gathering information about them is part of Saruhiko’s job. Should he be more doubtful about it? Absolutely, but there’s just something about Saruhiko that makes Yata believe his every word.

“She haunts the city...? If she’s a witch, can she... like--- do magic stuff?” And in Yata’s imagination, she’s also riding on a broom....

Autumn is the time of pumpkin-everything it seems, and while Yata doesn’t really mind or care, he’s never eaten anything with pumpkin in it. At least nothing that’s sweet. So he’s rather curious about the offer, eyeing the plate Eiri’s holding in one hand.

“Sure. Never had pumpkin cookies before. Does that even taste good..?” At least the smell is nice already. But he’s about to find out himself, taking a cookie from the platter held out towards him. “Thanks!”

“A witch...?” He gives Saruhiko a wary look, but the other’s expression is as serious as ever, nothing possibly hinting that this might be some kinda joke. Yata furrows his brows. He’s still fairly doubtful, since it wouldn’t be the first time Saruhiko’s told him some made-up story (which he’s also believed each time).

“No, I didn’t. Is this some kinda tale of Shizume City, or did you just make that shit up?”

Instinctively, Yata leans away from Saruhiko, all while giving him an annoyed glare, not sure what he’s talking about. Yata’s not wearing his costume yet? Or is there something on his face...?

“Quit callin’ me that.” He gives Saruhiko’s chest a rough push, trying to move him out of his personal space. “And don’t get all close. You got a problem with your eyes? ‘m not even wearin’ any costume yet.” Yata then eyes the other, who’s wearing the usual blue uniform.

“Even today, you’re still working.”

“Uhhh...” Yata gives her a questioning look with a raised eyebrow. Of course he’s heard of those Vampire Strains, and that Eiri’s in charge of getting rid of them. But he’s not sure if she’s joking about it right now, or if there’s more to it.

“Isn’t it your job to get rid of all the vampires, so they’re not roamin’ around here...?” But since it’s Halloween and everyone’s dressing up, it’s probably easier for them to hide in large crowds.
