One of Japan's premier Famicom researchers has uncovered a Namco promo VHS tape with footage of a never-seen, never released Famicom RPG: Splatter World, a Final Fantasy-esque sequel of sorts to Splatterhouse: Wanpaku Graffiti.
The promo tape straight up dates the game for release on March 19, 1993, i.e. a very late release for FC. The speculation is that it simply didn't receive enough orders from retailers and was cancelled.
This discovery also confirms that a piece of production shown off in the Splatterhouse episode of Namco Museum of Art (a series of videos on the Bandai Namco YouTube channel) was actually from Splatter World specifically.
