Med cat Lionblaze (Lionflower) and warrior Jayfeather (Jaystrike) my beloveds,,, always loved au’s like this so decided to doodle my own :) 
If anyone saw my tags on this post I mentioned that Jaystrike later mentors one of Brightheart’s kits - I have decided it will be Dewnose :) he is named in honour of his tracking abilities which he inherited from Cloudtail and were built upon by Jaystrike’s masterful training do you see my vision

Hi, I wanted to ask if you also have headcanons for Holly in your AU? Will her story be very different from the actual one?
Hmmmmm honestly I can’t think of much that would be too different for her?? Maybe there was some tension with her and lion for a bit after he decided to become a medicine cat (mayyybe some jealousy of him doing what she couldn’t?? Since by that point they’re older and more aware of their ambitions than when she and jay switched in canon?? Idk if anyone has some ideas there I will gladly hear em lmao)
But other than that like. I actually really like her story in canon, this character who dedicated her entire life to the code only to find out her whole existence goes against it and cracking under the weight of it all is really interesting to me!!

Ok fr though, they had a bit of a “I must prove myself” rivalry as apprentices, but also have a decent bit of solidarity - Jaypaw is blind and that means cats look down on him a lot, while Berrypaw is missing most of his tail and thus his balance isn’t amazing. There’s a fair bit of rivalry going on (especially as Berrypaw’s mentor is Jaypaw’s dad), butttt eventually they reluctantly get each other’s feelings of seeing themselves as being ‘behind’ in training compared to their siblings (even when that isn’t exactly the case)
Things really start to change post-parents reveal though, with Poppyfrost and Berrynose being two of the first cats to stand by Jaystrike and Lionflower. Berrynose v awkwardly talks about some of his own problems with feeling like an outsider, especially being Daisy’s walking double. Despite how clearly unused he was to being so genuine, Jaystrike found he did appreciate the attempt in the end, especially as they both moved their nests closer to his to block the stares of some of their more judgemental clanmates
In the end things just kinda. Naturally progressed. Jaystrike found himself really enjoying the company of both Poppyfrost and Berrynose, even if the latter still is an arrogant shithead who he butts heads with constantly - Poppyfrost is more amused by their shenanigans than anything even as she roles her eyes at their bickering
