Claus was going to be sick...
The more files he shoved off the desk, the more cabinets he scavenged through, the more diagrams and photos and notes he desperately tried to pay no mind to- each one pulled at memories long buried.
The only difference in this place and the one from his memory was the security, far higher than anything Claus had known before. It was worse...more dangerous...more likely to kill. It indicated a horrifying truth: whoever brought them here was far more competent.
If they were all shoved back in their cells...
Another wave of nausea was swallowed down as Claus tore up another drawer with trembling hands. He'd been dumping out the contents, searching for anything even remotely sharp- when he heard the door open.
Mismatched eyes went wide at the sound, everything dropped as the boy spun to face the door in a panic. In the blink of an eye, a pair of scissors sitting upon the desk suddenly whizzed through the air in the direction of the door, as though picked up and tossed by an unseen hand. Halfway through the room, the scissors halted in mid air. Frozen. Encompassed by a soft glow shifting between yellow and blue with hexagonal particles.
It was a person at the door. A normal person- not a soldier or a scientist or robot or whatever else could be in this hellish place.
A quacking sigh of relief escaped the ginger.
The glow encompassing the scissors dissipated, alongside a similar glow which had been alight in the ginger's human eye. With the glow gone, the scissors clattered to floor. The boy himself stumbled to lean against the desk he'd completely wrecked to support his trembling frame.
Just a person...just a person...you stopped the scissors in time...you hadn't hurt anybody-
