Splitzville

I was already 24 when my parents separated. This isn't entirely surprising if you ask me, not that we've been expecting it. At that point, my siblings and I were all grown up so it was never really a matter of  who goes with who.  They sold the house and everything that came with it, split the money and went separate ways. Forever. My mom moved back to her hometown and my dad stayed at my grand mother's.

Can't say I am happy about it but I know it was for the best. I don't blame them either for deciding to finally call it quits. I mean I used to blame my father for all the hardships our family have been through, if only he was a better father, we could have better lives. But we're grown ups now and I realized as my mother told me before, our plans for life has nothing to do with his and lack thereof. My parents' marriage taught me exactly what I don't want to end up in.

And I guess that's more than enough takeaway in their story.
