i love it when people talk about the complexity of moiraillegiance in alternia! like meowrails is the EXCEPTION to moirails existing entirely to stop someone (mostly the one in the higher blood caste) from being an active danger to others. that is not a healthy dynamic! and basically every single time those dynamics are doomed to fail, because highbloods have zero incentive to reign in their violence once they reach adulthood, and in the cases of erifef, gamkar, and (pre-retcon) vrisrezi, it doesn’t even work.

in that sense, meowrails is very wholesome when compared to every other canon moiraillegiance, so it makes sense that the sadstuck they do get mostly revolves around their deaths. but god is it interesting thinking about how they’d likely fall apart if they didn’t play sgrub and end the world. in a way, it’s mostly thanks to the hell that is alternia forcing them into roles that would destroy their friendship by default, especially since equius is a rigid believer in the hemocaste system- so much so that he didn’t even TRY to kill gamzee. it was only something he regretted after he died and had time to deconstruct his beliefs, mainly driven by the fact that he DID love nepeta a great deal. and every time i think about the scenes where equius thinks about how much he missed nepeta in act 6 i fucking bawl it is so sad and sweet

i think there’s a lot to be said about how the lord english loop might’ve required equius to hold those beliefs to stop him from resisting gamzee, and how therefore meowrails was so much more important to the plot than we give it credit for, but… yeah. equius just wouldn’t have changed if it wasn’t for sgrub, and nepeta would’ve been very right to break their moiraillegiance in that hypothetical world because honestly i am a RIDE OR DIE for nepeta she deserves the world!!

nepeta and equius still having such a strong friendship despite the difficulties of their situation really does just go to show how amazing their bond is. they have complications in their relationship due to differing views but they dont hate each other for it, they just slowly learn to accept each other for who they are and they dont let it ruin them

obviously as i mentioned before i think had they stayed on alternia this could have taken a much worse route and i have been cooking up an au about that in my head that i do need to draw soon XD

but yeah i love thinking about moirails, especially the meowrails

im like super tempted to go into my classpect based analysis of them both coz i didnt expect my lil yap about them to pop off like this XDDD i know its probably been talked about to death but i loveeeee talking about characters in relation to their classpect

Important thing about Equius and Nepeta is that both of them smell AWFUL. Nepeta smells of blood and unwashed Girl, Equius smells like sweat and horse. Terrible olfactory experience. Great day to be Latula

ive said this before but they both stink in opposite ways where equius has really good hygiene, he just sweats too much so its stinky while nepeta has terrible cave rat hygiene but her big ass jacket covers most of the smell

the idea of him maybe projecting false feelings onto his friends in an attempt to maybe make himself feel more “normal” could be interesting. like say he’s not really come to terms with or understands that he is aromantic and so is over exaggerating the feelings he has for others and the feelings they have for him as a way of dealing with that

also i’m a huge kerdly fan and i could low-key see them as aromatic partners in a qpr <3

I feel like meowrails has the widest selection of interpretations from the fandom. You cant find 2 meowrails art that looks the same. Well actually no, you probably can, theres just so much. But most everyone seems okay to depict them in all kinds of ways.

yeah that’s one of the reasons i really like the ship, everyone has a different take on them and it’s fun

some people just like the fluff side of it all, some think they’re purely a toxic relationship, i personally think it’s a bit of both but i’ve seen so many interesting concepts for them

especially with the fact we basically have multiple versions of the duo. like there’s base meowrails, then arquius and fefeta, arquius and davepeta, all the ghost variants and the ancestors/dancestors

one of my favourite takes i saw someone have was the idea of them being kismesis before they were moirails which i think is really fun, especially given how kind of antagonistic they are to each other in their first conversation. i’m a big fan of kismesis equinep

i think there’s a lot of really fun meowrails headcanons out there, even if they don’t fully align with canon. coz i don’t think they need to, i think if you wanna just get silly with it then go for it

my only request to the fandom is can we get some more equius and nepetabot content. that’s some of my favourite meowrails angst teehee
