what's so fascinating to me about this season is how explicit it is about their family being a queer family even before Cas comes out, Jack says several times he has more than one dad and no one bats an eyelash, Dean pointedly says "I have a family" in "Lebanon" and we know he means Jack, Cas, Mary, and Sam in a way that is very much not nuclear, Chuck makes Dean try to kill Jack for the Abraham & Isaac of it all because Jack isn't just Cas's kid he's Cas's, Dean's, and Sam's equally no matter what Chuck manipulates Dean into saying about him-- my point is none of them have to be fucking for their family to be queer, it just is

watched spn 15x3 and it kills me to point out to the people who blame Dean for being so ruthless to Cass; when he divorced Cass that while Dean may have valid reasons to blame Cass they actually just had a big ass argument which happens in every relationship. like dean calling his mom MARY and showing her the door, like dean ruthlessly snapping at cass to clean up his messes during leviathans heck sam and dean stopped calling each other brothers. BUT THEY FIGHT, THEY HATE EACH OTHER THEY MAKE UP AND THEY'RE FAMILY AGAIN. The thing is, it's not the big ass argument that puts me through hell, it's the fact (especially who knows Cass dies while watching the current ep) that we know Dean and Cass have got so little time together. AND THAT IS WHAT KILLING ME

first of all, love canon Dreamhunter, but also what's so interesting about spn is that it's constantly zigzagging the bury your gays trope to the point that it becomes one of the major themes: gay love can pierce through the veil of death and save the day. like yeah, the first time Kaia and Claire even hint at being into each other, Kaia dies, but then an alternate Kaia shows up when Claire's feelings are confirmed, and later it turns out original Kaia is fine (by spn standards) and she presumably gets reunited with Claire. it's so much harder to have a straightforward Bury Your Gays in a show where no one can stay dead (though it also means you can kill them over and over again)
