I saw a photo post of Dean in a shower, and it said it came from 9x18's Meta Fiction. Seeing that made me think about the plot of the episode, because I remember it being Metatron telling Cas a story and, so I look up the plot summary -

It starts with Metatron asking "What makes a good story?" And then IMMEDIATELY cuts to the scene where Dean is showering.

Then later on, we see Metatron ask this question again and it's to a chained Cas. He's telling this story to get Cas involved in his plot and -

Now that we KNOW thanks to 15x18, looking back...

Metatron started his "story" by completely pandering to his audience (Cas) by giving him a shower scene.
