My Favorite type of Whump
It’s still odd/new to me that it’s OK to post this stuff on the internet to a wide audience who understand and have the same interest as me. I wish I could tell my 14 year old self that one day there will be a community that will share in your (formerly thought of as creepy) joy you found regarding fantasy scenarios involving your favorite actors.
So my favorite thing is to see my woobie (and I have many) vastly outnumbered and beaten down. Apparently, there’s a TV trope definition:
Curb stomp – (non literal) a fight that's extremely one-sided, where one side just absolutely trashes the other with little-to-no effort. Commonly used as a way of establishing a character as being very strong, especially if the person on the receiving end of the beating is known for being very rough and tough. It does nothing for me to see the sweet, but more frail character thrashed around. But give me the tough guy hero getting battered and its full steam ahead! I absolutely LOVE body shots – a gut punch, a kick to the ribs or back. There’s no sound more heavenly than the when the whumpee gets the wind knocked out of him and gags, gasping for air. If that whumpee is being restrained by the arms by a few other baddies while the main ones goes to town, or a group of baddies surround him while he’s on the ground, and that’s my whump fantasy in a nutshell. I think I like my cinnamon roll being outnumbered because it makes him super vulnerable. I’ll take a one on one ass whooping over nothing, but I still prefer the odds against him. I’ve been on a real Castiel kick lately and he has some glorious whump. However, he’s often beaten up by a female demon – totally out powered, but still much less satisfying to me than using a male(s). Stranger in a Strange Land, 14x01, had a great setup and I was so excited, but the darn camera work – UGH!! It spins around BEHIND Castiel and we only got one reaction shot of his face. I hated the fake punches towards the camera – I get that it was supposed to be POV, but man did this miss an opportunity (for me anyway – haha). Those demons should have all been kicking Cas’ body while we get to see his facial reactions.
Any good whump scenes or even fanfiction that sound like what that for my current flame, Castiel?
