Monster of the Week: 1x16 Shadow
Daeva
It translates to “demon of darkness”. Zoroastrian demons, and they’re savage, animalistic, you know, nasty attitudes—kind of like, uh, demonic pit bulls. They’re invisible. Their shadows are just the only part you can see.
Monster of the Week: 1x18 Something Wicked
Dr. Hydecker - Shtriga:
Shtriga is a kind of witch. They’re Albanian, but legends about them trace back to Ancient Rome. They feed off spiritus vitae. It’s Latin, translates to ‘breath of life’. Kinda like your life force or essence. Shtrigas can feed off anyone but they prefer children. And get this. Shtrigas are ’…invulnerable to all weapons devised by God and man.’ No, that’s not right. She’s vulnerable when she feeds. If you catch her when she’s eating you can blast her with consecrated wrought iron. Buckshots or rounds I think. Shtrigas take on a human disguise when they’re not hunting. Historically, something innocuous. Could be anything, but it’s usually a feeble old woman, which might be how the witches as old crones legend got started.

Monster of the Week: 1x06 Skin
Shapeshifter? Something that can make itself look like anyone?
Every culture in the world has a shapeshifter lore. You know, legends of creatures who can transform themselves into animals or other men. When the shapeshifter changes shape—maybe it sheds. Well, one thing I learned from Dad, is that no matter what kind of shapeshifter it is, there’s one sure way to kill it. Silver bullet to the heart.
Evolution is about mutation, right? So, maybe this thing was born human but was different. Hideous and hated. Until he learned to become someone else.
Monster of the Week: 1x12 Faith
A reaper. There's reaper law in pretty much every culture on earth, it goes by 100 different names, it's possible that there's more than one of them. The clock stopped right? Reapers stop time. And you can only see 'em when they're coming at you which is why I could see it and you couldn't.
Monster of the Week: 1x04 Phantom Passanger
So, every religion in every world culture has the concept of demons and demonic possession, right? I mean Christian, Native American, Hindu, you name it. You see according to Japanese beliefs, certain demons are behind certain disasters, both natural and man-made. One causes earthquakes, another causes disease.
This isn’t our normal gig. I mean, demons, they don’t want anything, just death and destruction for its own sake. This is big.
Monster of the Week: 1x17 Hell House
Mordecai - Tulpa:
There was this incident in Tibet in 1915. Group of monks visualised a golem in their head. The meditated on it so hard they bought the thing to life. Outta thin air. That was 20 monks. Imagine what 10,000 web surfers could do. I mean Craig starts the story about Mordechai, then it spreads, goes online. Now there are countless people all believing in the bastard. That's a Tibetan spirit sigil. On the wall of the house. Craig said they were painting symbols from a theology textbook. I bet they painted this, not even knowing what it was. Now that sigil has been used for centuries, concentrating meditative thoughts like a magnifying glass. So people are on the HellHounds website, staring at the symbol, thinking about Mordechai ... I mean I don't know, but it might be enough to bring a Tulpa to life.
