Q: as a mother and as Mary, what would you want mary to say to sam and dean?
A: I don’t think that mary’s ever said she’s proud of them, but she is.
Mary was this canonized figure in their minds, Sam had no relationship he was 6 mo old.
When she was doing all these things that sent the boys into orbit, she was doing what she thought was best. And she has to do what she thinks is best, not what’s popular. I think she’d thank them for accepting her as she is. And that she misses them while she’s in the AU. And she hopes that she can kill Lucifer once and for all.
Q: advice from s13 mary to pilot!mary
A: please stay in bed. And... forgive yourself. *thinks*. Gently remind self that “these angels wiped your memory, lot of crap went down, and don’t leave Sam in the nursery.”
Q: (kid asking) do you still feel like a mom to the brothers (j2) outside of the show
A: not a mom, more like a big sister. Pretty maternal towards Alex (C) though.
Q: what monster would you want to fight
A: rugorou are pretty gross... ghost are cool, get to shoot a rock pellet shot gun. Werewolves are too scary.
Q: Favorite son, Sam or Dean
A: There isn’t a favorite, the relationships are so different. Mary is a lot more like dean, or dean is a lot more like her. I only have one child irl, but i would imagine that you don’t love them the same.
Q: In your opinion, what is greatest strength and weakness
A: strength is easy, it’s her fearlessness. Weakness, probably hubris. Cause she’s fearless, but she keeps almost dying. She keeps thinking she can do a lot more than she can, hence being trapped in the au, but it comes from the same place, being singleminded towards a goal. Which is a trait I think she’s passed on to both her kids!
Q: As Mary, what would be her greatest wish for her sons?
A: She wants them not to have to hunt anymore, that’s why she was working with the BMOL, but if it seems too good to be true. But they keep saving the world, and she’s incredibly proud of them. I think she’d want them to settle down, grandkids, but as a hunter herself she might be more “we can’t”.
Dean would never give up hunting, “you’re doing it wrong!” Sam would be “it’s fine”
Q: if you were in the au (as Sam) who would you be?
A: me? Queen. ruler of all the dirt huts and chief negotiator with all the mean angels.
Q; Has your career in film gone the way you wanted?
A: When I started I did only comedy. Well not only, but mostly. Moved to drama, but typecasting. And then SPN called.
When you play a role, sometimes you get something so foreign that you look at how other people play the role, but there’s not a lot of bases for looking at someone who came back to life after 30 years after being burned on the ceiling. S12, every time i got a grip on mary she changed. Finally felt like I got in her boots halfway through s12 (vampire ep) - vamp was annoying Mary so I chopped of his head, and it was like “there she is!”
Q: Now that Mary is back, do you think that Mary would be okay with grandkids or happier with the line ending?
A: I don’t think there’s any way she’d let her grandkids go into hunting. She’d want them, but not hunters.
Q: Have you considered directing, esp on spn?
A: let’s see, 8 days of filming in control of the whole set, jensen and jared and misha would have to do what i say... no, it’s so much work
Q: how would mary feel about Adam, and that he’s in hell?
A: used to say “not my kid,” that seems mean now. I wouldn’t let my kids go to hell to get him, but if he got out he can come to thanksgiving
