Dear @spockslash , I’m sorry you died. After you said very kind things about my art I made a spirk painting for you but I wasn’t happy with my Shatner-likeness and repainted the Kirk face a few times. While I was meddling with it you passed away. Sometimes it’s better to be finished than to be happy. Here’s the painting (from 2018) LLAP

CHEKOV: if you could visit any place in the world, where would you go?

Well, fortunately or unfortunately for Chekov, I’ve already been to Russia. Most of my travels outside North and Central America have been to Europe, so the place I’m hankering to go as soon as possible is Japan. I would also really love to go to New Zealand.

TUVOK: have you ever made an unlikely friend?

I’m not sure if @spockslash‘s friendship was truly unlikely, given our shared interest, but I always felt honoured and slightly amazed that she decided she wanted to be friends. I don’t know if it’s because I’m older than a lot of people on Tumblr, but it was more of a friendship than a “fandom Grandma” thing, despite the fact that she had a few decades on me. It was lovely to trade stories and secrets, and I’m sad we didn’t have more time to get to know each other.

I just hope Dee's spirit is at peace, and that she got to say hi to Leonard and De Kelley again. This hit hard.

I wrote this in a tag game that @spockslash tagged me in a while ago, and I just wanted to share it again to try to explain a little bit of what she meant to me and to all of us. 

“I need to write a quick letter of eternal gratitude to our wonderful Fandom Grandma and all of her amazing friends who kept Star Trek alive. Star Trek is something that is very central to my family. Both my parents are enormous fans, and my mom especially drew guidance and strength from the Star Trek reruns that our fandom foremothers made happen. Star Trek has given me a more hopeful view of the future when I was struggling, and influenced the way that I write the future when I am writing science fiction. Star Trek is one of the reasons why I am who I am today. (Also, it’s extremely fun and has some amazing ships, and if you’re one of my followers and haven’t watched it yet, you need to!) I am eternally grateful to the generations of fangirls and shippers who have fanned the flames for years. Sending lots of love!”

He told really risque jokes and laughed when you blushed all the way to your toes, then pointed out your being embarrassed to everyone within earshot.

I absolutely believe this, he was so mischievous! He was quite the funnyman, too, but he’d never be anything but sweet. Like Nichelle Nichols said, he was the “sassy gentleman friend.”
