Holy grail glitter palette by spoiled lips
After my poor experience with the now-apparently-defunct Goth Box subscription, I haven’t tried another random box in a long while, but the Glamour Ghoul Boxes had caught my eye a few months ago. They are a makeup subscription box that uses all indie, non-animal-tested makeup and seem to have a pretty good track record so far. So when they introduced a $10 option, I bought one, which arrived mid-November.
In it was:
A zip-top bag by JsCraftPopShop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/jscraftpopshop
“Herbal Mint” lip balm by Rebel Rouge Labs: http://rebelrougelabs.storenvy.com
“Oats” loose eyeshadow by Dirty Glam Cosmetics: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DirtyGlamCosmetics
“Poker Face” liquid lipstick by Spoiled Lips: https://spoiledlips.com
“The Night Runner” nail polish by Chirality Polish: http://www.chirality.bigcartel.com
The lip balm has beeswax in it, so I’ll be giving that to my sister as an extra stocking stuffer. I tried on the other three makeup items for the photo. (Awkward pose to try and show the polish/hide the fact that my skin looks even worse than usual.)
I liked the nail polish, which probably would have been the only one of these items I would have picked out on my own. The texture was really smooth and it did a nice job of coverage in two coats. It did chip pretty quickly and extensively, but that was trying it without any base/top coat.
I was surprised by how much I liked the eyeshadow, since I usually am not a fan of gold on me. It also stayed in place pretty well for a couple hours out dancing, considering that I was testing it without any kind of primer on my oily lids. I think I’ll have to find more ways to wear this color.
The liquid lipstick was the one item I tried on and really didn’t like. The color is just not all that flattering on me, I think because it has an unusual, almost greenish undertone. I offered it to my sister, who has a much warmer complexion, but she didn’t like it either. I’ll probably try wearing it again at some point and see if I like it any better. The texture is nice, smooth and light.
Overall, I was happy with this grab bag, particularly considering the low price tag, and have signed up for one of the full-sized boxes to try one of those.
