They were working with the galaxy expedition team as the professor before Laventon, however they were young, only 15, so no one really trusted them yet. It wasn't until Spooks died after an argument with Kamado that people really started to see them as an adult and not as a toddler. They were 19 on the dot when they died. It was their birthday and Kamado had gone back on his word of letting them go on the field again, so they stormed off in the middle of a blizzard in the Icelands. Kamado had spent days looking for them, and what he found was a mangled, bleeding, mess. The alpha Garchomp was gone, having been scared off by Malice. Their eye was torn out and half their jaw was missing along with an arm and the lower part of their calves. Kamado had cried for the last time seeing that.
However, malice is a strong thing.
They didn't even realize they were dead. Not until they felt their rotting flesh. It took a few years before they were able to look at themselves without panicking.
Spooks also has knowledge of extinct pokemon, but one showing up in the subways was not expected. The zoroark came through a rift much like the one that took Ingo in pla, however Spooks doesn't fully remember if this is a pokemon they knew before or not, but the zoroark, Malice, is very affectionate with them. Spooks will get random flashes of their past when upset or panicked, but they never seem to last long. They rely heavily on other people to piece together their memories and past. They recall one time when they were reading a book on the hisui period, they had started to feel upset, but they no longer remember why. They don't remember anything in this time frame and will act out in rage. So far the only things that calm them down are Salmon and the zoroark now rightfully named Malice.
When comfortable, Spooks will have a more monotone and quiet voice with a slight echo to it. It is unknown why. They also type similar to how Jevil speaks, repeating certain words or phrases when excited or very happy, and acting quite cheerful despite everything . Even if they want to give up. They are quite blunt and monotone in real life, their greeting is my own as well (hello hello)! Spooks has been described as a human Gengar. If they trail you for longer than a day, it's too late. Give up.
Though the pokemon are the ones who mostly takes lives, on accident or on purpose, Spooks has been known to harm or even kill those that dare harm another living being. Spooks has a makeshift pokedex entire, done by Professor Juniper. Spooks is unaware of this. Their pokedex entire states 'A calm and helpful being, leading the lost and scared to safety. Despite this kind nature, they have been seen to kill if needed, more often than not to protect a child or pokemon. They have also been seen to carry children home or to a safe place if danger arises, it is unknown why. If you hear whistling late at night, do not approach, there is no guarantee you will survive the encounter.'
Spooks has no knowledge of modern things and has earned the title 'Peepaw Spooks' from the younger ghosts. They also use modern slang in the worst ways, Guzma has given them a paper with slang and meanings, they're still confused.
If you look around the abandoned tunnel and don't get your ass beat by a ghost, you'll see many crayon drawings, all from Salmon, ranging from other people around Unova, to other grunts, to Spooks. It's said if you receive a crayon drawing, you will be protected from any and everything.
Professor Juniper has no idea where these drawings are coming from.
Spooks wears longer clothes as being a rotting corpse doesn't bode well with others. They also have some hearing aids and a cane to help move around at times. Spooks also has the habit of chewing on things when stressed. They have been seen watching people from the tree line, how much danger you're in depends on how close they are.
Phantump was a child that Spooks was sadly too late to save. He was only 5 when he died, and Spooks has days where they refuse to look him in the eye out of guilt. They treat him like a son despite this and try to give him a decent life.
Spooks faintly recalls a small child they took care of when in Hisui. For some reason this brings a sense of longing to Spooks, they don't know why. It was later learned the child was Warden Lian.
More often than not, Spooks can be found caring for orphaned children and newly hatched or newly formed ghosts. They are protective, but mostly docile during these times, only attacking when needed.
There have been many incidents in which Spooks killed or seriously harmed a person for harming a child. More often than not, the police will end up with the body of a known child abuser at the doorstep.
They can hear a sharp whistle in the night. The only warning.
Spooks both can and will eat raw meat/human meat if it means the pokemon get decent meals. They have many gloom dooms arounf the subway so that the ghosts don't feast on the living. It still happens.
Spooks wonders if anyone will ever remember them when they're truly gone, but they try not to think about that.
The pokemon are aware of this fear, they try to be a comfort as best they can.
