din takes his helmet off in front of you for the first time. you’re finally going to see the face of the man you’ve spent every day with for so long now. it’s a heavy moment and he’s given so much up because he knows, knows that you’re the person he wants to spend the rest of his life with and he’s tired of running and hiding behind the helmet. it’s you. it’s always been you.
he’s trying to steady his hands as he slips the helmet over his head, knowing it’s ridiculous but he’s terrified of what you’ll think of him. hell, he’s not exactly young anymore, and the life he’s led has worn on him.
he holds his helmet tight in his hands as you look back at him, and he immediately notices the tears forming in your eyes as you take him in. he’s not what you expected or wanted him to be, he just knows it. he hesitantly asks you what’s wrong, preparing himself for the worst.
you shake your head, the tears slipping from your eyes as you let out a small laugh and take his face into your hands, finally touching the man you’ve loved for so long, skin to skin.
“nothing’s wrong din.” you smile at him, barely able to speak as your heart swells with so much love for the man who has saved you time and time again, in ways you could never explain to him. “it’s just. you’re beautiful.”
and din’s helmet clatters to the floor as he pulls you in to hold you tightly against him, a single, small sob escaping from his trembling lips.
