All right, the first role has been officially filled! The role of Dr. Louis Stanmore will be done by my long time collaborator, SeiyruRenaih! It's great to work this awesome dude again! I hope to have one more cast announcement soon, so hang tight and after that I'll look into auditions for the two remaining characters.

This is somewhat of a repost since only one of the characters has a modified design: The ghost to the far left is Roxia, former Guardian Exorcist and mentor to Bellsung (the nun next to her.) She has a very chipper and bright personality but is quite the schemer and very strict when it comes to Bellsung's training. I included Bellsung without her gauntlet and nun hood. I did modify her colors a bit but her design work is done as is Stanmore's (the redhead to the far right) and his little robot helper, Sprite. So in total there are four characters in the show and I'm currently in the middle of filling the roles. Two of them still need to be filled (both female) so I'll be holding auditions soon.

Here's the last remaining designs that I needed to get done before I fully move on to backgrounds and storyboards. The villain is Merry, a former swordswoman-exorcist who became a ghoul. She takes possession of the little robot in the middle and its body becomes overgrown, twisted and mangled. You can see her spirit overflow from the ports on her shoulders. In her ghoul form she cannot speak but can wield her once great weapon. When she was human the sword was a two-handed sword but in her enlarged state she can effortlessly wield it as a one-handed weapon and can call it back to herself since part of her spirit resides inside the blade. I included Bellsung, the main character, for scale comparison.

Here are some reworked characters for my upcoming animation, Spooky Warrior. To the far right is the main character Bellsung in her casual wear. While she almost always wears her gauntlet she does take it off once in awhile to get a break. She's also quite short not to mention very burly for her stature. She is sort of intended to be a very muscular character (before she became a nun who maintains the peace between the living and the supernatural she was a pro wrestler!) but the art style minimizes that aspect so I made her a bit more wide and gave her larger limbs to compensate. For her attire I went something that's very tomboyish with a sporty feel. To the center is Stanmore, he's a reworked character of two similar previous ones I made. He's a paranormal investigator who serves as comedic relief and unintentionally causes big trouble for Bellsung. He has a pair of spirit-tracking goggles on his head and a proton cannon strapped to his back for self-defense. He's clumsy and far too involved in his hobby for his own good. I wanted to add a male character as a support character mostly because I've been so focused on female characters and wanted a change of pace. The little guy to the left is a character I brought back from another animation concept I worked on awhile ago. It's a robot assistant that Stanmore created to retrieve samples and for someone to listen to him babble on. The robot is deadpan and has no personality of its own... at first. Stanmore calls it Sprite. More to come soon!

Here’s the run cycle for Bellsung, the main character of an upcoming animation I’m working called Spooky Warrior. The character animations will be mainly done on 4s/5s but the overall background/tweened animation will be done at a smooth 60FPS.

Here's the lineup of characters for my upcoming animation, Spooky Warrior. Some are the same from my previous takes just with their proportions changed to make them smaller and cute-looking. The villain, however, is new. I felt the previous version of the cartoon didn't properly explain the world and characters enough so I went with a new villain and supporting character to refocus things. I also wanted to do a character that was being possessed and as the story goes on the poor girl goes through some huge transformations. The girl in the glasses is Zantz, a sort of paranormal law enforcement officer and researcher. She ordinarily uses gadgets to investigate and exorcise troublesome spooks but ends up being possessed by a malevolent spirit who holds a grudge against Roxia, Bellsung's now deceased mentor. Notice that the possessed Zantz's axe has a similar design to Bellsung's gauntlet... I do have two more minor characters to create for an opening scene and some more background work to go through but I hope to start casting the roles soon-ish!

Here's the newest model for Bellsung, the main character of my upcoming supernaturally-themed animation Spooky Warrior. I also included her teacher and predecessor Roxia... who is obviously no longer among the living. I came up with a pretty good story involving the two and the villain of the animation. I wanted to try and do a different effect for the ghostly characters: Instead of having the thick outline as part of the storybook style I use, I gave Roxia a faint glow to sort of signify that only solid characters have the black outline. A little bit ago I noticed that it has been nearly five years since I've embarked on creating a horror-themed animation with a female lead named Bellsung. She has gone through many iterations ranging from a Civil War-era monster hunter to a robot and, until recently, to a magical girl. The story has gone from the Civil War to modern day until I settled on a vague fantasy setting. One thing was clear though through all her incarnations: Bellsung (while wearing a purple-red themed outfit) fought the supernatural and would usually have either have a gun or an extendable arm to fight with. ...Jesus, has it really been five years? lol
