This is sort of a legality issue/cry for help. My friend got what was supposed to be a seizure alert dog for her son from a trainer in Ohio. This dog is not task trained, is poorly potty trained, and is not public access ready. The dog cost $4,000 which was fronted by her sister. They desperately need this dog. Can they do anything about this scam? Are there good seizure alert organizations to talk to?

I’m so so sorry that this happened to your friend. :( I’m sure she and her son are both very upset right now, and rightfully so. However this is honestly more of a question for a lawyer, and just based off the information given I don’t know for sure if anything can be done. An online review and a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau is one place to start, and if the trainer will not respond to calls I definitely would suggest that your friend contact a lawyer and have them look at their contract (hopefully she signed one before giving $4k to someone?) and maybe have them write up a letter. A strongly worded message on a law firm’s letterhead might give the trainer some incentive to work with your friend in order to avoid a lawsuit. As for other organizations, I don’t know any off the top of my head but we have some lists in our FAQ that you could look through. Again, I’m very sorry to hear about your friend and I hope things work out.
