"They had it coming! They called Dad a 'cyborg'! They called him a government puppet! They called you a criminal!" She was steaming, stomping her foot once as if it would make the earth tremble with her righteous fury. "I'm not gonna apologize to them, Mom! I can't let them talk that way about you or Dad!"
parenting should come with an instruction book
honestly it was hard for her to be mad at her daughter- she saw too much of herself in her. what right did she have to lecture her about losing her temper when she knew that she would have done the same, had done the same in similar situations? a sigh escaped her as she crouched down in front of the younger girl, hands coming to rest on her shoulders.
“listen to me. at the rate you goin’ you gonna get into some serious trouble- i know, i done it plenty of times myself. you’re gonna take a swing at the wrong people one of these days, people that’re bigger or got friends to back them up an’ i won’t be there to break it up like i was today. you gotta learn to start pickin’ your battles, even if what people’re sayin’ pisses you off real bad.”
standing up she ruffled the girl’s hair a bit before resting her hand on her hip.
“c’mon, your dad’s gonna be back from his mission tonight. we’ll finish this talk then.”
cobalt was better at handling these sorts of talks anyway.
