Collared earthstar fungus (Geastrum triplex)
Somewhat shaky video showing how the spores of puffballs such as the collred earthstar are released - when wind, raindrops, animals or, in this case, stick-wielding boys hit the mature puffball, the spores are released in a little puff.
I once saw an amazing video of a field of dozens of puffballs in the rain - as raindrops struck the puffballs, you could see little puffs of spores fly up and blow off on the wind.
