Lipstick
It’s Saturday morning and the air outside is chilly but the sun still shines in the sky. She sits in your bedroom with her pajamas on, huddled under a blanket to keep warm. She calls you over, pulling you out of bed, she searches through your drawer and finds bright pink lipstick and carefully paints her lips. She finds a purple for you, and you let her because her smile is intoxicating. She kisses you then, smudging the colors together until they create a new beautiful shade. She kisses you on the cheek, leaving a stain that you don’t want to wash off- maybe you won’t-
Picnic
It’s three in the afternoon and sixty-five degrees, the sun is partly shaded by fluffy white clouds. You both wear dresses and messy buns, her eyelashes long and dark contrasting with her chamomile coloured hair. She smells like daisies and warmth.Â
She carries a picnic basket with her, and a fuzzy white blanket, you both lay it down under a tree lush with cherry blossoms, and a few cascade gently onto her face. She gets out two copies of the same book, the one you’ve both been reading, as well as her owl-rimmed glasses that you know she’s secretly self conscious of. She places her head on your lap, and you read until four, when she pulls cupcakes and pink lemonade out of the basket. You share bubbly kisses and laughs until you see the sun start to go down. Walking home takes much longer than you know it should, but you don’t mind.
