Have you ever looked at the dainty blossoms of a crabapple tree more closely? Admittedly, I didn’t before I took this shot. Aren’t the delicate blossoms pretty? These are blossoms from an old crabapple tree of an unknown variety that came with our property. It flowered profusely but with the warm spring weather that we are having here in Austin, Texas, the blossoms fade quickly and our tree is almost done flowering by now, but we definitely enjoyed the blossoms as long as they lasted. Apparently, there are crabapple varieties out there that bloom well in Southern Gardens. I have to look into that matter a little bit more as I would love to add at least one more crabapple tree to our garden!
