If you could redesign Scraptrap/Springscrap in any way, what would you fix/remake?

First off, disclaimer: I actually really like Springscrap’s design. I think a while back I said that I didn’t like it as much as the original, but now that I’ve had some time to get used to it and draw it a bit I’ve really warmed up to it.

What made Springtrap unique is the corpse in the suit - except you almost never saw the corpse, probably because Scott was saving it as a lore reveal. With Springscrap you get to see the corpse in plain sight, which makes him much more unique. He also has some interesting design elements (like that cool bone-shard arm) and the corpse is actually somewhat realistic instead of super cartoonish this time (I mean, I realize William’s full of shit, but having his corpse be nothing but intestines originally seems a bit silly).

Also, Springscrap is actually, well, creepy. Springtrap looks cool, sure, but I never once actually felt scared by him, whereas Springscrap can be a bit unnerving when used correctly.

With that said:

I was actually already planning on doing some editing work on him to showcase this, but there are three tweaks I’d make: remove his eyes, shrink his forehead a bit, and get rid of the buck teeth.

The eyes: Cartoonish and almost googly-eyed. He only really looks creepy when you can’t see them. Case in point:

I realize they were probably added just because Springtrap already had them, but if a bunch of other things were removed I don’t see why the eyes couldn’t go. Alternatively, keep the eyes but have them stay far back in the suit, so they’re shadowed out almost all the time.

The forehead: I get what Scott was going for here, as his forehead is about the size of a person’s proportionally, but there’s a reason some call him Peanutrap. I’d bring it in at the top and make it a bit more dome-shaped along with possibly bringing it down a smidge.

The buck teeth: These are more minor, but… yeah, they can look a little silly. I’d go for a full row of human-like teeth, or just outright remove these ones. I don’t mind them personally, but I think you can go creepier here, and the original Springtrap’s slasher smile was always part of the charm of the design.

If I was to redesign him from scratch, I’d actually go in a completely different direction - fans are less likely to compare the two if they don’t look too terribly similar. I’m thinking that because William fixed himself up, and because he should know where all the best spare parts are and how best to apply them, he could make himself look semi-new.

Give him plastic plating like the Funtimes, maybe with different panels being different shades of yellow to show they were gathered from different places. Put some cracks and chipped paint on them, seeing as they’re old. Then make his face plastic with panels, like a yellow hybird of Toy Bonnie and the Funtimes. During his jumpscares, have the panels open up so that William’s metal-impaled corpse springs out towards you, putting a spin on the name. It might not be as classic as the original, but I think it would at least be neat as its own thing.

I like how people just seem to agree on the name "Scraptrap" for the new Springles

I use “springscrap“ personally, but both are good.

seeing as Springrtrap still had his old appearence in Sister Location, but heavily damaged, it's possible that his "new" design is him piecing himself back together from scrap of other ones, like how he gained the buck teeth none of the Bonnie's have

I’m pretty sure it’s exactly that. it also looks like there might be some Fredbear in there judging by the overall muzzle/head shape.
