Friday, January 3rd - Sunday, January 5, 2025: All of my bones ache so bad. I hate flying. I hate interrupting my routine. It's so jarring. I feel so out of place right now. Also I had a 4 hour layover??? Crazy actually. I had a good weekend after that, though.

I barely wrote at all the past couple of days, but I am just so tired. The sun rises an hour later here. even though it's the same time zone, so it's been throwing me off. Classes start tomorrow, so I have to prepare for that mentally. I am just stressed I guess.
Tuesday, Dec. 17th, 2024: Today I actually left the house, which is good. Hopefully I go for a run tomorrow since I got new leg stuff.
Today's Accomplishments:
ʚ Words written: 919 (start: 340 ; end: 1259) - not as much as I hoped for, but it's alright.
ʚ I chose first person over third person limited. I just needed to really understand the vision I had for this book, and I think first person works better.
ʚ I got a suction seal for my prosthetic to make running easier! (I have a pin system, so I didn't think I needed one, but it helps!)
ʚ I did not end up reading Synaptic Self. I got lazy, and I was very tired all day.
ʚ My dad fixed my phone! I can use it again! My screen time will no longer be 4 minutes on average, but that's fine I guess.
To-Do For Tomorrow:
ʚ Get my book to 2500 words
ʚ Read up to page 150 of "Synaptic Self"
ʚ Clean my bathtub
I'm making it a goal now to lose 15lbs, because my prosthetist said that if I do my insurance will cover a new foot for me. I want an All-Pro, and I have an XC Torsion. It's because my current foot is set to be flexible enough for my weight, so if I lose significant weight it will be too stiff and I'll need a new one. Scamming my insurance company is my favorite hobby, so I have to get on it. Once I start running it'll probably come off naturally anyway.
Tuesday, Dec. 10th, 2024: I didn't study for Immuno as much as I wanted to, but I still got a 92% on the final so we're good. I think this was my favorite course this semester, just because I loved the professor so much. I'm gonna miss his lecture style. He used to teach Genetics but he doesn't anymore :(
Today's Study:
Immunology Slides 171/171 [~1hr]
Orgo lectures [2.5hrs and counting]
~3.5hrs total so far
☆⋆。𖦹°‧★
Today's Final: General Immunology (2pm)
Tomorrow's Final: Organic Chemistry I (10am)
☆⋆。𖦹°‧★
Today's Self-Care: Uhhhhhh doomscrolling unfortunately
☆⋆。𖦹°‧★
To-Do Tomorrow:
1. Finish orgo lecture stragglers
2. Have a really good cry session after orgo
3. Print labs for microbiology final
4. Study old quizzes for microbiology
5. Get direct deposit for club set up (forgot yesterday)
I can't fail orgo, but I'm for sure getting less than a B, and I'm planning on bombing this final. I'm gonna study hard, but I also would like to be sane. I don't think I could ever study hard enough to get over a 75% on the exam. Anyway my treat for taking my exams is buying a gym membership because I want to learn to run again. I loved running pre-amputation and I have a high-level prosthetic that will let me. Maybe I'll take out extra student loans for the summer to buy a running blade... Ahh bad financial decisions, my beloved.
Tuesday, Nov 26th, 2024 : I painted my nails for the first time in years! Since schools' out this week I'm not breaking any rules. Technically I can have painted nails as long as they aren't long, but it's easier to just not have them (healthcare student dilemma). It really reminds me of my mom, a nurse, who would always get excited about manicures because it was a rare event for her to get them. We always went to get pedicures together instead.
I locked in today. I said I would and I'm happy that I did. One of my friends came over for about 10 hours, and we yapped and studied all day. We both got caught up on a lot of work. I would estimate that I got 3.5 hours of actual studying done. I was out of food, so he gave me some soup he didn't want, and it was so good. I feel very happy right now. I still really need to clean my bathroom, so I'll do that tomorrow if I can (but I'm having people over again).
Hope you guys are doing well! I definitely needing this break haha. If not to just rest, to catch up on everything. It's hard to feel behind and study for finals at the same time.
Notes : So it turns out that I was wrong. I do not post more when studying for finals because finals take up literally all of my energy. I would have had content if I wasn't so stressed, lol. Today is Sunday, the calm before the storm, and the last day of sanity before my extra cram sessions and hermit mode.
Finals: Monday: Basic Medical Lab Techniques ; Tuesday: General Immunology ; Wednesday: Organic Chemistry ; Thursday: General Microbiology.
Day #024 Study: BMLT Practical ; Orgo - Light Dusting of All Chapters [~3hrs]
Day #025 Study: BMLT Practical (& Took it That Day) [~1hr]
Day #026 Study: Orgo - Mass Spectrometry & Infrared Spectroscopy (Using Them Together) ; Immunology - Peyer's Patches and Practice Exam [~4.5hrs]
Day #027 Study: Full Break Day [~0hrs]
Day #028 Study (Today): Orgo - Extra Credit ; Immunology - Allergy Types [~6hrs]
I'm honestly more stressed about my flight home than I am about my finals, but I need to put that to the side. I've never been through TSA as an amputee before, but I've heard it's rough.
Monday, Dec. 9th, 2024: Cram studying is kinda exhausting, but it's the only way I can really retain information. Maybe I need a better method... I feel relatively good about my exam today. I was vibing to music the entire time (because accommodations), and I felt like I knew most of everything. I'm okay if my grade stays an AB and doesn't move up to an A, but I'm hoping for the best.
Today's Study:
BMLT Flashcards [~4.5hrs]
BMLT Objectives [~0.75hrs]
Immunology Slides 50/171 [~1hr]
~6.25hrs total!!

To-Do Tomorrow:
1. Finish Immunology slide review
2. Ask my prof where I'm meeting him to take exam
3. Get Treasury stuff for my club transferred at the bank
4. Get direct deposit for club set up
5. Get my honors college paperwork started
6. Watch all orgo lectures
7. Finish up orgo extra credit
I think I'll do good on Immunology tomorrow. I need a 66% to get an A in the class, so... as long as I don't absolutely get destroyed, we're good.
Leukocytes and Venipuncture Pages of Lab Scrapbook
Notes : I am sorry for the lack of posting, but I did kinda write about it already so I won't get into it. I am very tired and I'm just glad the dining hall opened today. I feel a lot less weak after I've eaten. I will probably have more to talk about every day since this is the last day of fall break, and it's the week before finals.
Thursday Study: Medical Lab Practical ; Mass Spectrometry ; Alkene Mechanisms (~4hrs study time)
Friday Study: Mass Spectrometry ; Infrared Spectroscopy ; Anatomy Practical - CNS (~2hrs study time)
Saturday Study: Infrared Spectroscopy ; Anatomy Practical - CNS ; Med Lab Practical (~4.5hrs study time)
Sunday Study: Alkane, Alkene, and Alkyne Mechanisms ; Infrared Spectroscopy ; Mass Spectrometry ; Anatomy Practical - CNS ; Other Remaining Topics I Procrastinated (~7.5hrs study time)
I am thugging it out. I really feel the finals season nightmare coming. I am kinda excited because it gives me something to do. I am trying to keep my anxiety down by doing fun stuff, like coloring books and making schoolwork into a sorta game-ified challenge. We'll see how it goes.
Yap Session:
I'm very annoyed at my school right now. I don't have enough credits to be a full-time student in senior year, but I don't have the right schedule to graduate early. I am considering another minor just for fun and something to do, but it might be hard to do that. I kinda want an art minor. I need to work on my painting skills and I need some accountability for that.
I said I wasn't going to study during the holiday, but I did anyway. I decided to make my medlab practical binder into a scrapbook so that I can have fun. I got pictures!! I also did some degree planning work because I have an advising appointment on Monday (tomorrow).
After break I really need to get back on my Autoimmune Protocol Diet. I think the inflammation is throwing all of my joints out of wack. I don't need to go full elimination phase, but maybe I do because the first time I refused to cut out coffee and tomatoes. I'll talk to my doctor lol.
Update on that last one: my hands aren't really working anymore, so I did start AIP, because I'll literally try anything. I's very hard to study when my hands keep getting tremors or stop working altogether. Just gotta make it through finals, then my body can do what it wants.
Thursday, Nov 21st, 2024 : I can't take pictures anymore because my phone screen is completely destroyed :/ this pic is from almost a month ago lol. I will have to try my luck at a phone repair shop tomorrow.
Anyway I fell off today. Thursdays are my flop era. I did so much work and my to-do list got about 5 miles longer. I literally had to make 6 to-do lists today. What. I got my orgo exam back, though, and I'm so happy!! The class average was a 65% and I got a 77% :) yippie! I want to remind myself that C is average, not failing. I'm an average chem student, and that's fine by me. I'm just proud that I'm doing better than I thought.
I went to Walmart today and got food for over break! I also got new soap and cat litter for my little guy. I got a new exfoliating cloth so that maybe my skin on my residual limb will stop being so evil.
