someone pull up an image of one of the times Owen appears on the balcony above Curt in the show and the music changes
I believe Owen Carvour would be covered in scars. there is no way that the blast didn't damage him- the heat, melting the skin together, the debris slicing him? a burning building has no mercy for a 'pretty face'. Owen, to me, has burn and explosion scars on parts of his face and visible body. Reconstructing would've been hard in that decade, and would have still yielded scarring results. I know its not canon that he has any from the explosion, but in my minds eye he does
After everything, maybe Curt gets to retire properly. Maybe he has a false funeral held like Owen's, and maybe he travels solo to places he used to be sent to for missions. Except this time, he gets to properly take in the scenery. He has a glass of his partners favorite wine and leans against the railing, admiring the architecture that he used to rush by and destroy in the process. He takes it in, studying how beautiful the world seems to be. He does this for the man who can't admire it anymore, and maybe, a little bit for himself.
Or maybe he never reaches that age. Maybe he's killed in the field, and it's sudden. It's a well attended funeral, he was one of the worlds renowned spies after all. Maybe he never felt the pain, all he heard was the click of a gun and a noise so loud it shook him to his core.
Maybe then, when he wakes up, Owen is there. Waiting. Maybe they can find their retirement there.
do you think they felt it in moments on missions. the domestic breeze pushing through the air around them?
it whips their hair when Owen fixes Curts tie and attempts to teach him how to make a windsor knot, and it blows harder when he combs his hair over to finish the look. making sure they both look perfect for the heist they're about to pull off.
it ruffles the papers as Curt drops the file in a quiet room, spreading them out to assess what their next steps is. All while Owen is tidying up the hotel room, preparing to leave tomorrow. He steals a kiss while he moves their luggage to the door, ensuring they won't leave it tomorrow.
and maybe it blows over the balcony on which they're standing, as they drink whiskey and old wine respectively. they each poke fun at the others drink choices, before Curt raises a toast for a job well done.
and if the wind whistles to hide the soft works spoken before they part until the next time they're assigned together? that's nobodies buisness
pre incident owen tended to curt a lot. metaphorically and physically. bandaging his wounds and sewing him up, Curt hates the sight of his own blood after all. offering soft words of comfort after a particularly nasty reprimand from Cynthia, pressing kisses to his knuckles when they barely make it out. of course, Curt reciprocates where he can. he has his faults, not so best at the comforting words, pushing plans past the breaking point, getting caught up in what he thinks is right.
can you blame him? Curt is dedicated to his cause. Owen is dedicated to him
Owen tries to dedicate himself to chimera, trying to adapt himself to the new environment. he has nobody left to dedicate himself too, and as time goes on, he despises how he used to care so gently for a man who abandoned him. he flips between hating him, and hating himself for it. if his death was avoided, his would have reigned true.
ill write another post on reconciliation and how i think it would go some other time. the point is, Curt would be at a loss. this isn't the same man who he knew, who he loved. he wants to love him despite it, but it requires serious changes to himself. while Owen would be guarded at first, over time he would lash out more, expressing his feelings in a harsh way. Curt will have to get his act together to care for the man he no longer knows, and it's an uphill battle. nothing they're not used to, though. the gradual changes as Curt is no longer distracted by his work, and instead can focus on Owen. all of him. learning the way he works, his signs, his tells. how to hold him without holding him, and how to love him the way he is now. Owen has to open back up, but it may take years, if ever. he still loves Curt, but he has to learn how to love him in his own way now.
shout out to the SaF fandom on tumblr finding me so quickly and adopting me into the group I made this blog because I feel so nervous to infodump about it anywhere else because like NONE of my friends are into it 😭😭😭
I have some thoughts about pre/post Owen and curts relationship regarding caring for eachother but I don't have time to type it rn so im posting a reminder for myself <3
