4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?

Realizing now that I loved a surprising number of debuts this year and so a lot of the authors of my favorite books don't yet have back catalogues for me to go through, but yes!!!! Finally started reading Bryan Washington, which has been great!!! Also read the first of hopefully many books by A S Byatt, Rachel Cantor, Diana Athill, and Emily St John Mandel.

Nicole!!!!! I miss you so much!!!!!! I’m so so glad we started hanging out when I moved to dc and my only regret is that we didn’t hang out more. You’re such a wonderful and hilarious friend and so fun to gossip with, and such a great and generous cook, and your cats are perfect!!!! Every couple weeks I think about that time we thought it might be funny to go to the Scientology house and then spent ninety minutes in hell, which is not exactly a compliment but it IS funny. You are always the most fun part of whatever deranged little gatherings I tormented you with an invitation to, and being your friend was unquestionably one of the best things about my time living in dc. Hopefully the next time I see you we can visit the beach that makes you young.
