Steampunk World’s Fair 2017!! Two more days!!
I spent the weekend at the Steampunk World’s Fair. As always, I had a lot of fun! More photos to come.
back from spwf so here’s some highlights + thoughts:
this year was maybe like the first time since my, uh, first time that I actually knew where the goblin market was
the goblin market was great btw
this way to the egress’ surprise set on friday!
they played stuff off their next album (which comes out in september)
toobie doo playing said set with no pants on in celebration of both national tuba day and national no pants day
the small but dedicated squad composed of everyone that actually showed up to prosspekt’s show
everybody slav squatting during prosspekt’s sound check
when the lead singer jumped off the stage and gave everybody high-fives
the post-show group selfie
i bought so much shit it was great
all the free samples food vendors were giving out
the turkish coffee guy (aka the real mvp of the con) was back! he didn’t have the pumpkin baklava this year but i was able to get pistachio
i still had some “radisson fun bucks” left over from last year and was thankfully still able to pay for food with them
scott helland’s story during his solo set on saturday about the guy who split his head open onstage during a performance and just kept going
the aerialist doing her show in an eeyore onesie
man there used to be truckloads of spg cosplayers and this year i counted exactly one on friday and a group of maybe five(?) on saturday. do spg fans really not give a shit about the con as a whole?
eli august ad-libbing song lyrics based on words people shouted at him. someone said “kraken” and he thought they said “crackhead”
eli referring to himself as “daddy” because he knew it would make the audience uncomfortable
why the fuck did ensmb charge extra for their solo set? no other band does that at spwf so what the hell guys (i didn’t bother going to it)
ensmb’s combined set with this way to the egress, which was lit as fuck and went from 9:30 to midnight, though i called it a night at 11:15 (doubt i missed much, by then they were just playing covers)
jeff mach showing up in the middle of the show to say the cops told them to keep it down so they’d have to cut the bass (idk how true that was but it was great)
i hadn’t heard or heard of ensmb til this spwf but holy fuck dude they know how to party
i’m still tired from dancing last night. this con just gets better every time i go. holy shit. 10/10
Steampunk Powerpuffs!
The Brave and the Bold
candystrippers replied to your post: Keep an eye on this space
I can’t wait to see these in person omg
We’ll be there tomorrow morning- look for Miss Fisher, Poison Ivy, and Kirk and Spock. And I will squee like a madwoman if I see your Lavellan!
got my ticket + hotel room booked for spwf!
who else is going this year?
