so,,, i’m hyperfixating on spyro again,,,and i have a doc full of headcanons of mine,,, please send help,,,

i started this last night after finishing the remaining headcanons i had onto a doc and i finished it tonight!

i kind of thought it would be cool to make a comic cover on one of my headcanons! you may recognized some of the characters too!

so basically, spyro is crowned king of the dragons and of warfang and red comes to try to take his throne. and in all of this, flame so happens to be red’s son!

there’s a couple of small headcanons for cynder and ember, but i don’t wanna clog up the headcanon that made this piece real!

Little more background under the cut, but as a shorter explanation: the Spyro series is just something that...changed so many lives, all over the world. And I just happen to be one of them.

That series was a gateway into gaming for me. He got me into drawing art when I was younger, and helped me find and make many friends along the way. Sure, it’s just a cartoon purple dragon, but Spyro’s shaped me into the person that I am today...and now - with this remake coming within a few days - I’ll get to relive my childhood all over again. Fresh and renewed. 

Can’t wait for that barbeque, old friend~ <3

While it’s been 20 years for many who probably bought the first game on release, it’ll actually be 18 for me on account that I was 2 years late to the party.

In fact the only way I found out about this series was through my eldest brother, who loved playing his PS1. One day he happened to rent a copy of Spyro: Year of the Dragon for the weekend. He sometimes let me play any of his games if I wanted to, including that one...

Needless to say I was hooked.

I must’ve played the first skateboard area for HOURS on end. And once I got bored of that I decided to try the rest of Sunrise Spring. Unfortunately I didn’t get up to fighting Buzz, and the rental date was up; this made me sad yet determined to finish the game, so I immediately asked my brother and dad if I could have “That Spyro game!” for that year’s xmas.

Aaand what happened...? Well, I definitely got a Spyro game, but not the one I expected - Spyro: Ripto’s Rage. My very first official Spyro game I got to call my own. Not only that, but my brother was moving on to the PS2, so he gave me his old PS1 as a bonus.

“...wait. Spyro 2...? There’s more than ONE?!”

With what little internet research I did I found out there were THREE games in total, and the one I played as a rental was the 3rd. With that in mind I made sure to get the 3rd game next, and then lastly played the 1st game to complete it - Spyro the Dragon. Years later I’d come to play Enter the Dragonfly, and A Hero’s Tail. I still have this little collection to this day.

Weird order to play the series, but I honestly wouldn’t change a thing about it. I’d say out of all of them: Spyro 2 has a special place in my heart. Because 1) My brother bought it for me as an xmas present, and 2) Because it had the biggest impact on me...plus the boss fights were always fun, Ripto’s especially. 

...ah, the main baddies.  Beating them again is gonna be SO MUCH fun~

Spyro is coming too

November Pokémon comes on the Switch. Don’t forget about Spyro returning on PS4! Spyro was supposed to come this month but it was delay to November.. which is when Pokémon comes... Therefore media coverage and purchases will probably be dominated by Pokémon.

don’t forget about little dragon friend when November gets here. he waited a really really really long time to see us again!
