Post-meet ramblings
Isn't she a cutie? I'm impressed by how much she looks like the character she's based on - cute and haughty at the same time. I’m sorry I didn’t catch her owner’s name.
I really am drawn to small, cute things - besides the tinies at the meet (there was almost every iteration of Soo - original, sleeping and smiling!), I tend to be drawn to the smallest, cutest of the “big dolls” (case in point, the Michele/SD10 in a previous post, and this DDP who is only 50cm tall - almost MSD-sized). I could see myself maybe getting a 50cm doll one day.... although that might be the start of a slippery slope.
So, interesting tidbits I picked up at the meet! I think most of the men at the meet brought Dollfie Dreams, the huge tall ones. I learnt that male collectors often feel “judged” by the general public when they are seen playing with smaller dolls, whereas the big DD’s garner them some modicum of respect. This was news to me, although I suppose I can see why that happens... it’s a pity, though.
I also heard from a DD collector that the large bodies for DD that SQ-Lab makes are apparently unauthorised copies of the vinyl DD bodies??? @_@ This was news to me. I had thought that SQ-Lab was a legit (used in the typical sense) company and that its bodies were self-designed. I really like the look of their Yo-SD bodies, which are definitely not similar to anything else in that size range on the market that I know of, and had planned to buy one for a future doll. Does anyone have any input on this? *EDIT: Have since done some preliminary research on a DD forum (as suggested by @curiobjd) and so far there’s no aspersion that SQ-Lab has somehow copied the DD body... phew...
I got the chance to play with a LUTS type-2 Honey Delf and wasn’t a fan of how it handled. The owner spoke in no uncertain terms about how easily the type-5 body she had broke, and she thought the type-3 was basically the same, so she bought a replacement type-2 body. A Honey Delf Uriel has always been floating at the back of my mind somewhere, but this certainly pushes it further back... ...
I! also got the chance to play with a Cocoriang Peppi rabbit! (thanks to the very kind Celeste) It’s amazing how expressive its tiny body is - you can feel the care that the Cocoriang team put into its design~
EDIT: As mentioned above, I am contemplating an SQ-Lab Yo-SD-sized body, so it was good that I also got to see an actual SQ-Lab Yo-SD-sized option hand in person at the meet. They fit Volks Yo-SD wrist joints well, but the colour seems to be much more saturated (think BlueFairy or Fairyland) than Volks resin.
Anyways, the swap/sell meet was a good impetus to sort through my sales items, which I now plan to properly list here and on DoA. I’ve already taken wig stand photos of all the MSD wigs - only 20 or so of them. :P I’ll see what I can do to list them on Tumblr “pages” rather than blog entries, to spare y’all the bulk of the spam in your feeds... XD;

I... I'm buying the SQ-lab KSG Moe guys.... GUYYYYYSSSSSSSSS its gonna be a short layaway, but the selling price was for $150 and I just couldn't pass on it... I can't wait to finish paying her off and have her home. (I've been really wanting an YOSD but didn't know what and now I do, and I have these really cute YOSD clothes I've been saving in case I do get another YOSD in my life) I can't wait to do those anime-styled face ups. /dances/
