Costar. Ngoma Anti-poaching unit, Zambia 2017.

I photographed pretty much everyone I met whilst in Africa. I have a number of portraits of Rangers and Village Scouts who operate on the front line. Some, like Costar were getting ready to go on leave so I captured them just as they were. I'm not a big fan of making people pose and prefer to capture them without any false frontage so that they feel comfortable in front of camera. Costar is part of a five man team and he and his colleagues all stood for portraits before heading home to their respective villages for some well earned downtime. Some of my work from this project was exhibited at Mall Galleries, London in 2017 alongside the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition.
