with the new lilo and stitch movie coming out i’m seeing a lot more art of the original move circulating, and while im thrilled about that over seeing anything regarding the remake, i can’t help but notice a trend of people kind of solely representing a family dynamic of jumbaa and pleakly as lilo’s two gay dads while entirely just… pushing nani out of the picture? and not even just in regards to lilo i don’t ever rlly see people considering jumbaa and pleakly’s relationship to nani either

don’t get me wrong im all for the husbandry of it all but i worry the tumblr rose-tinted yaoi goggles are rearing their head and entirely missing the point of the original story. lilo has like 6 different parental figures at this point, but at this point i suppose i shouldn’t be surprised people focus on the two most shippable male characters over a woman that is central to the heart of the story.

grace stubs his toe on the ship REALLY badly one day and is like "woah i almost swore there". rocky goes " but you always swear. you say many swear words." and grace has to explain that he actually just says silly words that are close to but not sctually swears because he works with kids and doesnt like doing it, and rocky is DESPERATE to learn the real ones but grace refuses to teach him. so while grace sleeps rocky uses the speech translator to combine words and sounds he likes, trying to get close to what he thinks the actual ones are based on what fakes grace uses.

he mostly just makes a bunch of silly nonsense words, but he gets one spot on and i will let you guess which.
