You can tell a lot about a person from the music they listen to. Put your music device on shuffle and post the first 10 songs that play without skipping. Tag 5 people afterwards.
I was tagged by squidproquo-ink! I have actually done this before, and here's the link to the last time I played along.
As I stated the previously, this meme comes with a disclaimer! I am old fashioned and mostly listen to music on CDs. A lot of those that we buy through Amazon come with an MP3 copy, so this is my main source of music on the MP3 player. I do like to buy their $5 albums too. I am also slowly converting my old CDs that have fallen to the summer heat. Thus, I am not sure if this list accurately describes me - husband’s music is purchased through the same account!
To be more accurate, I am going to list my top 10 bands (along with concert experiences), and then do the shuffle thing (which turned out spot on ~50%).
1. Scorpions - my true love, always and forever. I have seen them in concert in 3 different countries, spanning 4 decades!!! (first concert in 1989, last in 2012).
2. Van Halen - my close 2nd love. I have seen them in concert many times, and even saw Sammy and DLR on tour together
3. INXS - anyone who has heard Michael Hutchence would not need any further explanation. Anyone who had seen him on the cover of Kick (even though only half of his face is shown) would also understand me. I was lucky to see them twice in concert.
4. Pink Floyd - although I don't support Roger Waters' political views, he is a musical genius, and so are the rest of Pink Floyd members. sadly, I have never seen them in concert, but I have been to numerous cover band shows, and I saw Roger Waters in concert twice.
5. Led Zeppelin - I don't think any intro is necessary. Jimmy Page is a guitar hero, and Led Zep is a legend. I was lucky to see Page and Plant in concert in support of their No quater album.
6. Pet Shop Boys - love them! and we saw them, finally, in 2013 :)
7. The Cure - nobody (besides Joy Division) does depressing music better than them :) Probably my best concert experience - nearly 4 hours, no opening band.
8. Leonard Cohen - the legend requires no explanation. We were privileged to see him in concert recently, and just like the Cure, he delivered one of the best music performances ever.
9. ABBA - 70s fun, music I can listed to at all times!!! Would kill to see them live....
10. Boney M - pretty much ditto what was said for ABBA.
It was really tough to list just 10 (with the exception of the top 3 - this was a given) - so I have to acknowledge the following as well: Queen, Metallica, Depeche Mode, New Order, Beasty Boys, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osborne; there's so much more. Apart from the Queen and Beasty Boys, I was very lucky to have seen all my favorites in concert, and multiple times in most cases.
As you can see, I prefer 70s and 80s music, from disco pop to heavy metal.
Now, the shuffle (heed the warning above):
1. Gogol Bordello - Raise the Knowledge
2. Gary Moore - Stop Messin' Around
3. Avicii - My feelings for you
4. Cytotoxin - Dead Zone Walkthrough
5. Scorpions - You give me all I need
6. Rob Dougan - I'm not driving anymore
7. Scorpions - Falling in love
9. The Cure - Why can't I be you
10. Space - Carry on, turn me on
guess which ones above are mine, and which ones are my hubby's ??? :)
consider yourself tagged if you want to and you haven't done this before!
