I think the most egregious thing about D+R is that instead of maybe providing further insight by making the full thing a recap it has a full 10 minute intermission and the gall to make the last part just the 1st 30 minutes of EoE. (Cont'd)

--- Which, as the Glass Reflection review points out, you're probably going to watch immediately after D+R. So in the hindsight of the films no longer being theatrical, D+R has zero point in existing anymore. And that's sad.  --- 

as far as the time the movies came out it almost makes sense for them to do that. like i said i never saw D&R so maybe another mod can get in on this. 

though the release dates are the same year they are ~4 months apart. D&R was most likely the type of movie to provide a refresher for old fans, interest for new ones, and something to gently tie into eoe. (which makes sense logically) 

for us it might be useless but for the timeline of the series production not so much.
