I follow Bandcamp user Pascal Richeux, and saw that he recently bought Pop Threat "Scum: Redux/Remix". I'd never heard of Pop Threat, an early 2000s band based in Leeds, England. Band member Darren Lockwood and Caroline McChrystal went on to found Squirrel Records. When Pop Threat disbanded , Lockwood and McChrystal formed The Manhattan Love Suicides and later The Blanche Hudson Weekend (I bought one of their singles when Odd Box Records was selling off their surplus).
Pop Threat sound like they would have been absolutely huge a decade earlier. According to the Bandcamp notes for their ridiculously limited "Give Me The Sonic Kill : 1999-2003", the band was "Motivated, sonically, by The Jesus And Mary Chain, Sonic Youth and early My Bloody Valentine...All the Pop Threat recordings were cranked out quickly in small studios using analogue equipment and a definite no-frills approach which was influenced by fellow lo-fi practitioners Guided By Voices, Television Personalities and Beat Happening."
