Don't chase the rabbit

Send “Don’t Chase the Rabbit” for a memory from my character’s past.

The wind ran through his tied back hair, his eyes examining the male who was reading from a tablet. Fingers played absently with the stem of a wild flower before finally plucking it from amongst its field of bright friends. He rose and walked over to the male, kneeling next to him and offering the flower without uttering a word. Aetius looked up at him, setting the stone book aside and pushing himself into a sitting position. One of his musical laughs danced into the air where it joined hands with the wind and swirled away. Achill still held out the flower and the other finally took it, spinning it in his fingers. “What’s this for?” Tilting his head, he gazed steadily at the other. “You said you give those to people you like.” As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt what he was told to be worry flow in his veins. Something he said must have been amiss for Aetius looked surprised and shocked. “Did I do something wrong?” The other stared at him a moment then shook his head slowly, a smile appearing on his sculpted lips. “No.” Appeased, curiosity coursed through him again. “What else do you with the person you like?” Uncertainty. He was getting better at reading emotions and it made him feel pride. Good pride, not the other kind. Eyes focused on Aetius’s face, he saw the other come to some sort of a decision and begin to lean closer. Hands were suddenly caressing his cheeks and curiosity and confusion played across his features. Achill held still and waited, trusting the other implicitly. “You know, you have beautiful eyes. Like grass or the emeralds in the temple.” Even though the words left him wondering what was significant about his eyes, they also sent a chill down his spine. He blinked and then the other had his lips upon Achill’s own. It felt strange, but…nice. Aetius pulled back and laughed lightly. “It’s called a kiss. Do you like it?” With a short nod, Achill leaned closer and connected their lips again. He wanted to explore the pleasant sensation so, with no warning, he pressed closer, taking the other by surprise and toppling them both over, his hair spilling around them in a hazel curtain. “Hey, you have to go slow…” Despite the reprimand Aetius was laughing and it brought an uncertain smile to his lips, the curve hesitant in its movements. Hands supporting him on either side of the male’s head, he tried again. And again, and again, and again. It left him breathless. 

The first of many laughs left Achill that day, waltzing up into the clouds in perfect innocence.

Chaerin laughed quietly to herself as she answered the phone. “You’re a quick one. Sorry I’ve been gone I had…things to sort out. How the hell are you dear?”

"I hadn't heard from you in a while so I was excited to see that it was you!" Luna replied into the phone cheerfully. "That's okay.... I'm pretty good even though it's been busy. How about you? Have you been well?"

[sms] Hey, hey Luna love can I call you?

At the buzz from her phone, her hand reached over to the side table beside her bed. She smiled immediately at name of the sender and dropped what she was doing to text back.

[TXT: Chae] CHAEEEEEEEEE I MISSSS YOUUU

[TXT: Chae] Yes, yes!

After sending back the last message, she just went ahead and dial Chaerin’s number.

Dearest Chaerin, 

I really miss you. It’s been a while since we last seen each other, yeah? I hope you’re doing well and taking care of yourself. How was your travels? Was it boring meeting those other immortals? I think that’s what you said why you had to travel overseas. Did you see lots of new cool thing and eat lots of delicious food? 

Hey, Chae, I just wanted to say thank you for being my friend. I really appreciate you. I think of you as my family and my big sister.  Was that weird? I think so.  You’re very kind and sweet to me. I only wish happiness for you which is why I’m glad you found Leo. Kekeke. If there’s anything, I can do for you, please let me know. I’m always happy to help you and hang out with you! Love you lots!
