My last trip of 2019 was to #mandufestival Mandu, on invitation of the good folks of @mptourism . It was a good trrip except on day one itself the clumsy me broke my DSLR. But that is a story for another time and place. While there are many things that I loved about the festival from music concerts to local arts and crafts to hot air balloon rides whatI am really impressed is that Mandu Festival besides art, culture, music, momuments and food was also a celebration of the unique tree #baobab. If you read my blogbyou will know what a magical tree the Baobab is. Brought to India by wandering friars Mand[ has the largest cocentration of #baobabs in India. Locally called Khorsani Imli ( imli = Tamarind), as per folklore the Khilji army was given Baobab fruits as part of ration to be used in case if emergency when water was not available as the fruit has many medicinal properties and can quench thirst for hours. Mandu has Baobab trees growing near monuments, in fields, in jungle and almoost everywhere you go younwill find this magical tree that defies convention.
