What's this? :o A new patreon drawing is up! For 5 bucks you can witness ST1X painting snowflakes on your monitor in what is my last drawing of 2025, along with MANY years worth of other secret drawings not posted anywhere else! I've been having to take a lot of odd jobs to try and save up for a mode of transportation and pay my bills, so supporting my patreon allows me to set aside some guaranteed time to draw my own characters. ;w; And for that I cannot thank my supporters enough, I miss my lil guys!

Anyway, to answer your question: The character you've drawn here (very well for mspaint i might add!) is none other than Black Ace, who belongs to @zeurelart!
The kind of tournaments you're asking about were/are known as OC Tournaments, or OCTs for short. While I may not have made Black Ace, funny enough, I was a participant in the same tournament, Escape From Nevara! Our characters never crossed paths, though. XD Here's the lil guy I entered, if you're wondering:

Now Chester WAS in another tournament, though it was more an AU of himself. You see, back on dA around the same time was a huge open submission OCT going on called Samurai Duelers League, where you would enter your character (you DID have to change them to match the old samurai-era Japan setting of the tournament though if they otherwise didn't fit, hence the AU) and fight other people who entered, and it wasn't an elimination tournament so you could still fight others even if it was determined you lost.

And while he didn't participate in the tournament as an entrant, Chester as his normal robot self was also in spectator entries as a side character in a tournament named Infractus Fatality!
As for Charlie, I sadly only made him in the last few years or so, well after the OCT scene on dA had largely died. Not to mention I left dA due to their AI bs shortly after I made him, so even if OCTs were still a thing on there I probs wouldn't have stuck around for it. ;w;
But MAN he would've been perfect for OCTs!! I literally made him because I was inspired by watching cool stickman fight animations! And in canon he's a living weapon, he was engineered specifically for combat and blowing stuff up! If there were any characters I could have sent into a situation where they have to fight other characters for survival or a wish or what have you, it should've been him! But alas, I made him way too late.
People still run OCTs on discord and... i think twitter, these days? But idk, I don't really like being on twitter and discord is such a closed off space that discoverability is super low.

Like in text rp AND ttrpgs? Heck with it, I'll do both- just know that I've also played canon characters for stuff before so not all of these are my OCs, it'll be a mix of OC and my take on/AU of x character from x thing, and for funsies I'll try and do this in the order I first played 'em, and include icons I made for them if I still have 'em. (Just know this is gonna be a long post, my apologies .w. RP is one of my favorite pastimes so the first ones are literally from when I was a kid).

Wakko Warner (Animaniacs, canon) - big appetite, silliness, just wants to have fun, tendency to burst into song, has two other siblings, acts like a puppy (I don't really do this anymore but absolutely did as a kid)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic character, canon) - enjoyment of chili dogs, just wants to chill and have fun, hates oppression, hands straight out behind back when running (used to do that all the time on the playground lol)
Knuckles the Echidna (Sonic character, canon) - Deep loyalty to friends, "pssh that doesn't scare me!" (is scared), "I'm fine!" (grievously injured and probably needs to see a doctor like yesterday), when given a very important task will focus 100% on that task to the detriment of everything else
Blossom Utonium (Powerpuff Girls character, canon) - is a planner, enjoys reading, has two other siblings, big expectations placed on them (mainly of their own making), anxiety, just doing their best
Dib Membrane (Invader Zim character, canon) - is a planner, is not taken seriously even if the situation is, anxiety, likes to solve mysteries, larger than average cranium
Robo-N (OC, ex-sona) - Is pretty much a snapshot of me when I was like 14 years old personality-wise, what with being an ex-sona and all, so there's a lot in common there lol
Chester Sho (OC) - Worse vision in one eye (the left specifically), mental health issues, lost someone very dear to them, uses silliness to cope with The Horrors, deals with the existential dread by ignoring it, big appetite, creature-like tendencies, doesn't like getting splashed by or submerged in water
Trevor Faden (OC) - Worse vision in one eye (the left specifically), redhead, not a morning person, doesn't exactly like job but feels defined by it anyway and doesn't have much else going on in their life, has a condition from birth that the general public is uncomfortable with, pessimistic, falls back into bad habits when not doing well, likes to solve mysteries, likes strawberries
Climber (Castle of Nations/Endzone character, canon) - tendency to faun, fear of abandonment, anxiety, nervous stutter, likes to dance, very much does NOT want to be set on fire
ST1X-972 (OC) - Had a job that saw them as a number and chewed them up and spat them out, likes to sort things in aesthetically pleasing ways at the expense of functionality, hoarding tendencies, sees the potential in broken things, sentimentality for trash
Kilroy (John Talloway) (OC) - tries to deal with unfamiliar situations with excessive planning, often ends up having to just wing it when said plans fall apart, kinda just fell out of society as a whole for a while, followed a career path most people don't consider a real job, compulsive behavior, likes solving mysteries, enjoys reading, wants so badly to be cool but is just kind of a dork really
Dipper Pines (Gravity Falls character, canon, werecat AU) - tries to deal with unfamiliar situations with excessive planning, likes to solve mysteries, interest in cryptozoology, enjoys reading, has songs they simply just cannot hear without singing along to
Note (OC) - hates their job but takes it very seriously regardless, big expectations placed on them (mainly of their own making), "pssh that doesn't scare me!" (is visibly scared), easily flustered and embarrassed, easily upset by small inconveniences, impatient (ESPECIALLY when it comes to solving problems), lost someone very dear to them, plays/used to play the violin, just trying their best

The Snatcher (A Hat in Time character, canon) - first relationship didn't work out (WAY worse for him than for me but yeah XD), enjoys reading, had big plans lined up for their life that COMPLETELY fell apart, takes rules and their wording very seriously, can get very grumpy and petty over minor inconveniences, doesn't like getting paint on them, talks a big game but consistently loses to someone less than half their age (playing literally any video game with my nephew, in my case XP), plays/has played the violin
Lukas (the Prince) (A Hat in Time fanon character, Weresnoodle AU) - first relationship didn't work out (WAY worse for him than for me but yeah XD), made excuses for someone who hurt them, enjoys reading, had big plans lined up for their life that COMPLETELY fell apart, takes rules and their wording very seriously, tried their best to be a good caretaker during hard times, has put on a brave face despite being scared and not knowing what to do to avoid scaring someone younger who's depending on them, is the youngest sibling, plays/has played the violin
Callie (Calendula) (OC) - One fully-functional eye, art student, anime club, is the youngest sibling, worked a dead-end job while in school, hates their job, redhead, freckles
Charlie Matchstick (OC) - doesn't feel like a human despite being born one, social anxiety and paranoia, deals with the existential dread by playing video games, feels like a burden on friends when things aren't going well, thinks Sonic games are cool, loves loud music, hates being watched, likes wearing soft baggy clothes, thinks pretty much every animal in existence is cute, prefers warm environments, big appetite, doesn't like getting splashed by or submerged in water
Snowman (Cryo!Charlie) (OC, Mirror AU) - doesn't feel like a human despite being born one, social anxiety and paranoia, hates being watched, gets embarrassed if someone finds out they like something (i'm getting better about that but he's not DX), likes wearing soft baggy clothes, loves loud music, will take time to savor favorite foods, is awkward at making friends (something I also hope I'm getting better at dgjkh)
Nocturne (OC) - Spent many years devoted to a purpose that's ultimately a doomed one, lost a lot and had to start over from scratch, now struggling with trying to forge a new path for themselves
Samanthiel (OC) - Spent many years devoted to a purpose that's ultimately a doomed one, made one big terrible choice and is spending a long time and a lot of work paying for it, partial loss of vision, hates their job but takes it very seriously regardless, big expectations placed on them that they failed to meet, "I don't need anything." (has needs), "I can get by just fine on my own" (is lonely), takes rules and their wording very seriously, lost someone very dear to them, likes cats
Wheelbarrow (OC) - took their job very seriously, is mostly a freelancer now after losing said job, struggling to forge a new path for themselves, is awkward at making friends, is deeply loyal to the friends they've managed to make, had a pen pal they exchanged letters with when they were younger, had given themselves a very important goal that they proceeded to singlemindedly pursue to the detriment of everything else
Frank the Cat (Felix the Cat AU/expy, OC) - Partial loss of vision, works/worked in entertainment industry, overweight, oldest person in most of their friend groups, just wants some good eats and relaxation, deals with the existential dread by ignoring it, is trying with varying degrees of success to buck old self-destructive habits, had big expectations placed on them that they later rejected after trying and failing for years to fulfill them, used to be well known when they were younger and got all messed up bc of it, AFAB, many years spent closeted for safety before they finally stopped giving a shit, favorite meat is salmon
Surfy (OC) - Loves surfin' the World Wide Web, 90s kid, wants to be helpful, is the most familiar with obsolete systems and knows next to nothing about new ones, feels awkward with the physical body they're stuck in

I definitely noticed a lot of recurring themes with these... haha; So much for just one or two things, I went overboard as usual. Fun fact: Since ST1X is a silent character, his playlist is pretty much all instrumentals. Also, since ST1X was originally supposed to be Kilroy, the original playlist I had for him was basically a proto-Kilroy playlist.

I'mma just go down a mental list of OCs for this as I go. XD
Let's see, well right off the bat...
John/Kilroy would be theft, obvs- though with the amount of times he's stolen stuff AND the combined value of it all would probably be well into felony territory by now. XD ; That said he's committed tons of petty theft as well, it's just an impulse for him- if the opportunity's there, he just takes it.
Echo has also stolen plenty of things when they were alive, and they help John steal things now, so... <XD Probably also in felony territory for them, but it doesn't really matter since you can't really arrest a ghost by normal means. I guess they've been punished enough by being trapped in a cursed mirror for a long time, though...
Mera... Trespassing, probably. If there's a mystery afoot she's gonna follow wherever the clues take her, even if it's private property. XD ;
As for ST1X, probably also trespassing, 100% because of Mera. (Semi-spoiler, but not that bad of one that I feel a need not to say it: in the comic she later fixes him up and he helps her out with stuff.)
Note is trying to deal with being a tutorial character living in a broken game, so I imagine he's done a ton of stuff he technically shouldn't be doing in order to navigate that, if you count the game's code as 'law'.
Chester does whatever the heck he wants.
Robo-N and R. Bunny are generally on the up-and-up, but they aren't officially law enforcement so by fighting bad guys, that would probs net a vigilante charge of some kind.
Same with canon Charlie, he's probably knocked a few skulls around and always dips before the cops arrive. As for cryptids AU... stealing food. Lots of it.
