It’s weird that people said ‘yeah novel jc is bad but his cql actor is cool’ uh okay. Everyone in that drama had handsome and pretty actors that is the point. Yet nobody becomes a JGS stan bc he is hot in the donghua and said ‘JGS did nothing wrong’. I also found the actor decently good looking until I saw his horrendous acting skills. And no, people who get butthurt over cql criticism, well even Hollywood and even other Asian drama actors act better but I suppose he is more of an idol than actor so not like we can really criticize him for not being able to perform like how we expect since it’s just not really his field. was thinking that jc would not get this much popularity had it not been the current actor playing his role
This is what annoys me so very much, objectively, EVERYONE IS PRETTY BECAUSE IT IS AN IDOL DRAMA FIRST AND FOREMOST.
He is a stage actor (Opera), Wang Zhoucheng, and it shows since his facial expressions are highly exaggerated. That does not televise well at all for tight shoots of film, it just doesn't. His popularity is a strange mix since the CH base likes him for what he is in the canon while they know what is OOC for silly fanarts.
The EN base has the strange need of pushing headcanons as a very serious rule that can interfere with canon. Maybe I'm old school, but there was a reason YMMV and don't like, don't read were pushed so heavily, it kept canon and fanon separate aside from old school flaming trolls. It was accepted "I think this character is hot or a cool villain" without needing a defense back up to make them redeemable and force that on non-fans.
