Another picture of the boy!

For years I've been thinking about deer cavalry and yet never finishing any picture of humanoids with deer.

Some might say it's a downgrade from the azhdarchid but he had to return it to its owner at some point.

He's inspecting what happened to the animal on the ground but he's looking up because he saw something. Oh and the statue in the background (I imagine a famous explorer of his time) has a built-in mechanism that displays a holographic map of the galaxy if activated. I like to put in suspiciously well-preserved structures in forests, okay.

I also wanted to try out some opalescent/iridescent effects on the pupils and skin surface.

He's, once again, found himself in some sort of situation, but this time instead of old elven ruins he was checking one of the rooms inside a large human-made structure.

Stabri didn't have a lot of experience in interacting with humans, but he was pretty sure that they normally don't attract wild animals, save for a few predators. This was apparently another unique feature of the overly polite little guy, in addition to the mysterious volleyball that definitely moved when nobody was watching, and the fact that he'd somehow survived a decade alone and unarmed (save for a pair of oversized scissors) moving through some of the most beast and bandit infested areas known among civilized species.

Stabri had initially resigned himself to laying on the forest floor for a while longer, but after losing interest in passively observing the wildlife - which was uncharacteristically willing to ignore his presence- he felt the slowly creeping existential dread of being alone with one's thoughts for too long. He briefly considered grabbing one of the small critters as a distraction but his instincts were telling him that currently it was a very bad idea to disrupt whatever freaky phenomenon was going on. And there were definitely eyes on him.

He has a great sense of balance. It would make him real annoying to deal with when he's running up trees and taking potshots from hard to reach places.

I wanted to try speckled light. Don't know if it was a good idea but I hadn't tried it before.

I was having a hard time finishing anything (that's not a commission) in the past few months so I just ended up doing another variation on those pictures from last year. I tend to look back at something recently completed and think of alternative poses or sequels I could've done instead. Often it's very particular details I just want to try depicting and so I end up making an entire picture.

The environments they take place are ancient and this time I wanted the place to look a little more comforting ... like watching a warm fire, intricate pictures, flowers growing. Perhaps plants covering something that people before you built is too melancholic for comfort? But hey, these murals were made to last and they still glow with arcane energy. Nature's keeping them secluded instead of destroying them.

I was thinking that probably not many people would care so I should just draw what I want.

The subtlety of elvish social cues and norms might be confusing to onlookers.

Oh also I tried a different look for the invisibility cloak's effect to make it look more "sufficiently advanced technology". And yeah those plants took a long time but were oddly satisfying to paint.

You may only use weapons of equal or lower technological level to the target's. You may not use modern materials on your equipment. You may only use analog tools for tracking and navigating. Do not pursue outside of the trial area. Avoid harm to any other creature as much as possible. You must bring back the head or skin. Do not attempt to sabotage or steal the kill from another. You will be watched.
