WIP Wednesaturday

was tagged by @stacispratt ty ilu and sorry it took so long to actually do this lol

it’s been a hot minute since i really wrote anything beyond like random notes for fics in the notes app on my phone but i do have a short lil thing that i may or may not finish, who knows. last edit on this was in july lol

Banri doesn't get sick. Living life on super ultra easy mode has its perks, afterall. Hyodo, on the other hand, has kept him up for two nights in a row because he refuses to admit that he's sick and even if he would, there's no way in hell he'll take medicine to get better. It's not sweet enough.

He's tempted to go sleep in Itaru's room, but he does actually want to sleep tonight, not stay up gaming. Hyodo coughs from across the room and Banri groans, sliding his head under his pillow. He'd tell Hyodo to shut up already, but he'd tried that earlier and he'd barely received a response through the coughing. At this rate, he might actually end up getting sick because of Hyodo, and there'll be hell to pay if he does. 

Every time he nearly falls asleep, there's yet another fit of coughing and sniffling. He knows it's much worse for Hyodo, but that shouldn't mean he has to suffer. He opens up his phone, finally, and sees that it's just after one in the morning. Inconvenient, but the perfect time to check on all his mobile games. While he's completing all of the daily quests and making as much progress as possible on the weekly and monthly ones, he gets a message from Itaru.

taruchi: weren't you going to bed early tonight?

NEO: i wanted to NEO: but fucking Hyodo NEO: and his fucking cough

taruchi: lol taruchi: try not to kill him in his sleep

NEO: he's not sleeping, so

taruchi: thats ur takeaway?

Banri rolls his eyes and sets his phone back down. It'll take a bit for his stamina to restore again, so he may as well try to sleep again. Hyodo seems to have fallen blissfully silent, and he's hoping it'll last long enough for him to fall asleep.

The next thing he hears is the sound of his alarm going off. Apparently Hyodo gets to live to see another day. He lets it ring a little longer than he usually would because Hyodo isn't a morning person and waits until the last minute to get up because fuck Hyodo.

"Turn that thing off, will ya?" Hyodo grumbles, voice rough and nearly gone.

"Sorry, what was that?" Banri teases, letting his alarm continue to ring. A pillow comes flying at him, but he bats it away with a laugh. "Your fault for keeping me up so late, you know."

"I can't help that I'm- that I was coughing last night!" Hyodo yells, or, tries to. The crack in his voice at the end voids any semblance of intimidation he may have had. And really, how can Banri not laugh at that? "Shut the hell up!"

Banri finally silences his alarm and climbs down the ladder of his bed. Hyodo's pulled out his own phone and taps at it a bit before getting up.

"You're not seriously planning on going to school today, are you?" 

Hyodo stares at him in confusion. "Where else would I go?"

9, 11, 23 uwu?

hello sweetie!!!! tysm for the ask <3 <3 this is saving me from the boredom of work and also keeping me motivated to finish these writing prompts!!

9. are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? pantser or plotter? do you wish you were the other?

gosh this is a goodie. i thiiiiiiiink (????) i am more of a longfic writer? for some reason i spend excruciating amounts of time building things even in oneshots. like i can’t write porn without plot. i have TRIED--but i cannot. i think i’m terrified that putting something out shorter and drabbly will make people hate me because i’m a hack (lol) so i get all in my head about the length and the word count etc.

as for plotting: i do it very sporadically and without being reliable at all. i have like maybe (?) plot beats i for sure want to hit and random bits of dialogue that i daydream in the bath and then go from there lol. in fact most of the last 2/3 of ancient names i had NO idea how i was going to get to the end until like every single chapter i was writing! i wish i was a plotter. i wish i had like the whole thing figured out, because i think my writing process would be SO much smoother and my writing would probably just improve in coherency overall, but : ‘ ))))

11. what do you envy in other writers?

more like what DON’T i envy in other writers?? lol okokokok but for real i wrote ancient names when i’d barely played like a lick of far cry 5 and so i always think, specifically for this fandom, that i write john way ooc. granted ancient names is so hugely canon divergent but i’m always insanely jealous of the way people write john specifically (yes @shallow-gravy​ i am LOOKING,) but everyone just seems to have such a good handle on his particular brand of crazy and i LOVE!!!! THAT FOR ME TO INGEST but also makes me think i missed out on an opportunity to have him be uber crazy, which i am hoping to remedy here in WH ;=;

overall and not fandom-specific the thing i think i envy the most is people’s ability to write really, really, really well. like you know when you read like a sentence or a paragraph that is just so perfectly structured, just hits so fucking hard, that shit just SLAPS and you get an INSTANT dopamine hit because it’s like all these little slots in your brain suddenly fit perfectly all thanks to this beautifully crafted piece of writing???? YEAH I WANT THAT

23. what’s the story idea you’ve had in your head for the longest?

this is SO hard!!! so hard because i think my interest and my thoughts definitely wax and wan like the fuckin moon which makes it so hard to keep focused. i do think that definitely carry your throne/my birds of prey universe fic has stayed in my head the longest, varya and roman are such delicious little psychos and they live rent free in my head nonstop. i could pretty much drop everything and write them any time anywhere, regardless of what i’ve actually been working on sjdhaksj

ancient names/witching hour/the world building i’ve put into that is definitely runner up. if you told me like 6 months ago i was gonna be a bitch writing a sequel to my own shit i would have choked and died because that is SO unbelievable i would do that. but honestly writing these stories and elliot’s character in particular have been so cathartic and important to me that sometimes it feels like it’s been sitting in my head for eons, lol

Alternate Universe headcanon: In the dep squad universe, Audry and Wes start some form of a relationship. I imagine that, due to Audry's fear of emotional intimacy, the first time with Wes would be so hard for her, since she's only ever had one night stands with strangers before.

Childhood headcanon: Sharky was the first one to teach her about sex, and then of course Adelaide. (No wonder she's so kinky)

Love headcanon: Audry has the biggest heart, and definitely has the love language of doing things for others. She borders on the surface of servitude when she loves someone.

Friendship headcanon: she is such a great listener, and has a way of getting people to open up, even if they don't want to.
