7mins in and I'm not hooked. I felt like it didn't really give a clear idea of whose who or what's whose. A drag queen collapses on stage..okay..and? Like, no offence. I just mean, that there wasn't anything there to give me the reason to care about this particular drag queen. Than we're introduced to a church woman and her choir. I didn't know what the connection between the two are. Than it talks about a funeral and I'm like..okay..but whose funeral? Who am I supposed to be caring about in this story? 7 minutes in and all of a sudden I'm supposed to know everything about these characters even though I don't have any information. I don't understand how someone can be late to their own child's funeral. Oh you travel from outer state..you did get the details of the funeral right? Walking in late already makes it seem like you had no care for your kid. By the time I got to the 15min mark, it felt like a "me me me " movie. Like nothing screamed about a mother and her lack of connection to her son, it's just about characters who seem so disconnected to each other. I definitely don't like Adrian Grenier. I took me a hot minute but he played Ann Hathaway's boyfriend in devil wears Prada. He certainly has a type. Ew. There's nothing likeable about him in this movie. This movie doesn't really focus on drag queens and when it does, it paints them as addicts or people who are too up themselves. It doesn't have the care of their people too. This is definitely a straight white saviour movie. #stagemother #stagemothermovie https://www.instagram.com/p/CprHsYQPSjH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
