Stamp prices are going up in less than two weeks, so don't forget to grab some before they do.
Incidentally, the Barbie stamps are going to be available the day before, so I will be hunkered out by my local office like its a black Friday from the 90s.
STAMP PRICE RISES: An Inevitable Result of Competition
The CWU welcomes moves by the regulator to ensure that consumers will not be hit by unreasonable price rises to large letters and small parcels. Stamp prices rose by 30% from 46p to 60p for first class and by 39% from 36p to 50p for second class. These record rises come after decades of below-inflation price increases.
CWU general secretary Billy Hayes said: "The rise in stamp prices is the inevitable effect of competition and preparation for privatisation. It has been the same in other industries, from utilities to railways, always hitting consumers and those who rely on services."
"It's vitally important that Royal Mail's ability to raise revenue does not make the poor, the elderly and the needy into the victims of the wealthy, rich and greedy and we welcome this extension of the pricing protections" explains Billy. We have been urging the regulator to make sure that the vulnerable do not become the victims of privatisation."
