A friend of mine wrote a flaming facebook one-liner about Senator De Lima. It was full of ire and sexual undertones. (I will not republish here). I believe it was meant to be half funny, half demeaning. A few male friends chimed in, laughing at and adding to the joke. I didn't find it funny. Typically I just unfollow people who are plain disrespectful. But I have kept this friend on my feed even as we disagree on many points - still good to have balance. To me, his post was plain disrespectful. So I commented, something like: "Hey bro. I'm sure you have enough respect within you. I believe you enough respect for *all* women, enough to make your wife and daughter proud of you." A few minutes later, he took down the previous flaming post. And replaced it with this second post (see screencap). I may disagree with you, I will still be respectful towards you. If you are a friend and you disrespect women, I will call your attention. I will not disparage you, I will not fight hate with hate. I will respect you even as I let go and allow you to change your *self* as little or as much as you want. Stand for respect. Let's make this world a better place. :-) #standforrespect #respect #makeyourmommaproud #spreadlove
