Day 05: Button. As in, "cute as a..." President Obama was in Flint, MI for a speech. It's where he met 8-year old Mari Copeny... in person. See, they'd already communicated by letter. She's an activist and was recently named Little Miss Flint. "People need him to give us hope," she said when asked why she wrote to 44. "I'm a kid who cares. We do not drink the water 'cause it's poison." Her goals? To become Miss America and a police officer. Do that, Mari. If anyone would like to go out and gather signatures with me, let me know. 📢📢📢 If you are unsure what this is all about : Rick Snyder has overrode democracy in Michigan on the local level by allowing himself to put "Emergency Managers" in place of elected officials (mayors). These people often have corporate background and are elected by no one, appointed by Snyder. Their power is scary and their undemocratic rise to power alone shows they are not for the people. We saw this come to a tragic manifestation in Flint, MI, where all of its residents now suffer from lead poisoning, most notably infants and children who will forever be damaged and face many obstacles, as well as 11 deaths from Legionaries disease-- all from a decision by an Emergency Manager to cut costs, with a lack of regard to Flint citizens or extreme negligence, meanwhile many elites and corporations get out of paying taxes that could have truly helped Flint prior to this, but #whatdoiknow . Worth noting that this is now worlds more expensive than if they stayed on Detroit water. All of that said, it is my belief that Rick Snyder is not a suitable leader for Michigan and we must remove him from office. Protect democracy, and justice for those in Flint, not that it will ever reverse the damage that comes from the neurotoxin, lead. 📜🖋 #recallrick #standwithflint
