the tricks insects like beetles and earwigs do to fold their wings are always impressive to watch, but sometimes you find one that really sucks at it like this rove beetle that landed on my finger and couldn't put the equipment away
in its defense, its main priority didn't seem to be folding them but rather grooming them to clean my Icky Essence off of them

Metallic Rove Beetle (Plochionocerus fulgens), family Staphylinidae, Ecuador

there's an angel (insect) and a devil('s coach horse beetle) on each shoulder
thinking of opening a small shop next year... these would be a set of 2 stickers :>

Platydracus maculosus from a few years back, underrated Staph
Been working on the staphylinids lately. The most diverse group of beetles in north america and probably the world. Really cool little things, really miserable to identify.
Here's a few handsome guys I've identified recently: Adranes taylori, Thoracophorus costalis, Siagonium punctatum.

I scrolled this blog for a while and didn't see it, so I'm gonna request Nicrophorus Americanus, also known as the American Burying Beetle.
They're critically endangered, and also one of few beetle species that actually exibit parental behavior. I love them very much. :]
Thank you for requesting them! Their pom-pom antennas are so cute.
Have you seen the American burying beetle (Nicrophorus americanus)?
I have now
Yes, in photos/videos
Yes, irl
I'm not sure
